Ryan Anderson Out Two Weeks With Sprained Right Ankle

Mar 26, 2017 2:54 PM

Ryan Anderson will miss the next two weeks with a sprained right ankle.

Anderson's tests came back negative.

"The important thing is he can play two or three games before we get into the playoffs," Mike D'Antoni said. "And it looks like he will be on that timetable, we won't push it, and we'll deal with whatever and hopefully he'll be back sooner rather than later."

On the season, Anderson is averaging 13.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

James Harden Helped Facilitate Rockets' Trade For Lou Williams

Mar 24, 2017 6:50 PM

James Harden reached out to Lou Williams two weeks before the deadline about joining the Houston Rockets.

“When James called, he asked me if I was interested in playing with them,” Williams told The Vertical. “I told him that I loved the Lakers, but James and them have a group that fit my personality, fit how I play. He said he was going to make it happen.”

Williams then laughed. “I’ve heard that before, so I didn’t really put stock into it,” Williams told The Vertical. “I guess James did put the word in, and the team made it happen.”

Houston, Utah and Washington reached out to Magic Johnson about a deal, with Williams’ agent, Wallace Prather, helping to facilitate negotiations.

Williams has averaged 14.5 points in 13 games with the Rockets.

“We needed one more guy that could create, and Lou is perfect,” Mike D’Antoni told The Vertical. “Lou is a professional scorer. In case someone is off, if someone is injured, Lou brings another 15 to 20 points. We still need to incorporate everything. You can never have enough shooters and playmakers, and he does both.”

James Harden Wants To Play Every Night, Avoid Rest

Mar 21, 2017 10:17 AM

James Harden has no intention of resting during the regular season, urging Mike D'Antoni to keep playing him.

"I'm a hooper," Harden said. "I just want to hoop. I'll rest when I'm done. I feel like my teammates and organization need me to go out there and do what I do. I get obviously paid for it, but it's something I love. I enjoy the grind. I enjoy how hard it is. I think that makes you tougher. That makes you who you are."

Harden is averaging 36.5 minutes per game, which ranks seventh in the NBA, and he has 56 double-doubles and 19 triple-doubles this season.

"I don't know how many examples you need there," D'Antoni said regarding the MVP award and Harden. "He gives you an example every night. If something's better out there, I've never seen it and I've been around. I'm old and I've been around and never seen anything better."

Harden was asked if D'Antoni will try to rest him down the stretch.

"Mike knows not to come at me with that," Harden said.

Harden has missed only one practice this season.
