Daniel Theis Out Indefinitely After Knee Surgery

Nov 11, 2022 8:49 AM

Indiana Pacers center Daniel Theis is out indefinitely after right knee surgery. The surgery was necessary to relieve consistent pain Theis has felt in the knee since EuroBasket this past summer.

Theis was traded to the Pacers last offseason in a deal that sent Malcolm Brogdon to the Boston Celtics. Theis has yet to appear in a game for Indiana this season.

The Pacers owe Theis over $27 million through the 2024-25 season. That final season is a team option for Indiana. It's expected the Pacers will be open to trading Theis this season, as they have several other options at the center position.

Paul George To Cavaliers Trade In 2017 Fell Apart Minutes Before Completion

Nov 9, 2022 4:05 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers were minutes away from acquiring Paul George from the Indiana Pacers in 2017, which would have allowed them to pair him with both LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

A conference call was scheduled to finalize the terms, but the deal fell apart when it came to getting final ownership approvals.

The Cavaliers would have sent out Kevin Love to the Denver Nuggets and at least one future first round pick in exchange for George. The Pacers would have acquired Gary Harris and multiple picks.

George was instead eventually traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Chris Duarte Out 4-6 Weeks With Grade 2 Ankle Sprain

Nov 5, 2022 3:05 PM

Chris Duarte of the Indiana Pacers will reportedly miss four-to-six weeks due to a Grade 2 ankle sprain. The second-year wing was injured in a game against the Miami Heat on Friday night.

Duarte has appeared in all nine of the Pacers games thus far this season, with five starts. The 6-foot-6 wing out of Oregon has averaged 8.9 points per game in those nine games.

With Duarte out, look for Indiana to lean on Aaron Nesmith, who has missed three games with injury issues of his own, and rookie Bennedict Mathurin more on the wing. The Pacers have also run a lot of three-guard lineups to open the season.

Myles Turner: Lakers Should 'Take A Very Hard Look' At Potential Trade

Nov 1, 2022 1:02 AM

Myles Turner said that the Los Angeles Lakers should take a "very hard look" at trading for him on a recent episode of "The Woj Pod" with Adrian Wojnarowski.

"If I'm the Lakers, I take a very hard look at this with the position that you're in. I know what I can provide for a team -- my leadership, my shot-blocking, my 3-point ability and just my ability to make plays out there on the floor.

"And I take a very long look at it," said Turner.

The Lakers reportedly considered trading Russell Westbrook and two first-round picks for Turner and Buddy Hield at the start of October.

Turner added that he understood the value of first-round picks.

"We all know picks are so valuable in this league, and someone like myself, I'm heading into the last year of my deal and you want to make sure you're getting a return for your assets," said Turner.

Turner is averaging 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game this season.
