Dunleavy: Everyone Would Want Camby

Dec 28, 2009 2:48 PM

Clippers coach and general manager Mike Dunleavy knows that forward Marcus Camby could be one of the NBA's most coveted players as the trade deadline approaches.

In addition to his production, 8.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.14 blocks per game, Camby's contract ($9.15 million) expires at the end of the season.

"Everybody in the league would want him," Dunleavy said in an interview with FanHouse.

"He's probably the most valuable contract in the league from the standpoint if you're looking to trade for a guy with an expiring contract that has a lot of game. Most teams are trying to give up longer-term contracts for shorter-term contracts, and a lot of times those teams are willing to sacrifice in order to shorten the money. In this case, you wouldn't be sacrificing. That's why everybody wants him."

Dunleavy added that anyone could be dealt, but that the Clippers aren't looking to trade Camby.

"It's been ongoing for my whole career so it's pretty much basically nothing new for me," Camby told FanHouse of trade rumors.

"It always feels good to be wanted. I haven't requested any trades despite our record (13-17). I know a lot of contenders are probably going to be inquiring about myself. But this is where I want to be at. So hopefully I can finish up here. I like our team."

Griffin, the first overall pick in this past June's NBA Draft, is starting to increase his activity and the team hopes to have him back by the end of January.

If all goes well, Griffin could resume basketball activities in three weeks.

"We'll just take it week by week and next week bump it up to the next level -- not really sure what this is," Griffin said. "We'll talk to the doctors and coordinate.

"It was a relief. But at the same time I've still got to show improvement through these next few weeks."

Dunleavy Doesn't Understand Why Gordon Doesn't Get Calls

Dec 22, 2009 2:07 PM

Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy doesn't understand why guard Eric Gordon doesn't get any calls from officials.

"It's amazing how he never get calls," Dunleavy said of Gordon. "I don't know whether he's got to be the squeaky wheel and start getting Ts and cursing people out. It's amazing to me how a guy, who is a really good guy, who is a really good player, he doesn't get calls.

"You're not asking for the so-called superstar calls where you bail guys out. You're asking for legit calls."

Gordon is averaging 17.6 points and 2.9 assists on 47.9% shooting in his second NBA season.
