Sources: Raptors Interested In Trading For Eric Bledsoe With DeRozan Potentially Involved

Jun 29, 2013 6:42 PM

The Toronto Raptors have interest in trading for Eric Bledsoe, according to sources close to the process.

The Raptors would like to include Andrea Bargnani in any deal for Bledsoe, however the Clippers are believed to be more interested in DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan may be expendable with the arrival of Rudy Gay, who was acquired by the Raptors in January.

Orlando and Detroit are also reportedly targeting Bledsoe.

Rivers: Celtics Wanted To Unload Contracts For Picks Including Mine

Jun 28, 2013 12:31 PM

Doc Rivers expounded on the question of whether he quit on the Boston Celtics in an interview on the Dan Patrick Show.

“They wanted to unload contracts for draft picks,” Rivers said. “I happened to be one of those contracts. This is a direct quote from an owner. This is a win-win for us. … Clearly, I had a selfish motive. I had a chance to not rebuild and go to a team that is in a different phase of our franchise. This [was] done together.”

Rivers also addressed how he called Bill Simmons an "idiot" during the coverage of the NBA Draft on Thursday.

“Bill is a fan,” Rivers said. “Is he qualified to do the NBA? We can debate that all day. But he's a fan. Not a friend of mine or a fan of mine and he never has been. I thought it kind of ruined the broadcast last night because he kept bringing it up. It's almost like he had an agenda."

Aldridge Would Prefer Trade To Bulls, Mavericks, Clippers

Jun 27, 2013 1:22 PM

LaMarcus Aldridge hopes the Portland Trail Blazers can improve their roster before the start of the 13-14 NBA season. If that does not happen, Aldridge would prefer a trade.

Sources say Aldridge would prefer a trade to the Chicago Bulls.

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers would be two other teams high on Aldridge's list.

"LaMarcus loves Portland," said the source. "He spent seven years there and grew as a man. Him going back is a possibility and he knows that. He's a professional, it wouldn't be an issue."

Rivers Will Have Final Say On Clippers' Basketball Decisions

Jun 27, 2013 11:28 AM

Doc Rivers will have final say on all basketball decisions in his dual role as head coach and senior vice president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Rivers' job title places him above vice president of basketball operations Gary Sacks.

"I've always been open to working with the coach on everything and everybody incorporating our entire front office," Sacks said. "That's the key, finding a way to complement each other with our strengths. Not everyone can do everything all the time. My role stays the same, trying to acquire players and put this team in a position to compete.

"At the end of the day that's going to be a group decision. I believe Doc will have the final say, but I think he'll rely on everyone."

Rivers, 51, compiled a 416-305 record in nine seasons with the Boston Celtics.

Magic Haven't Talked Trade With Clippers In Three Weeks

Jun 26, 2013 7:50 PM

Amid reports that the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers had picked up discussions involving an Arron Afflalo for Eric Bledsoe deal.

Rob Hennigan acknowledged that the two teams had discussions at the time of the NBA Draft Combine in May, but haven't spoken in three weeks.

The Magic seek a point guard of Bledsoe's caliber, while the Clippers will be unable to afford a backup to Chris Paul at the salary he will surely get in the near future.

“We haven’t had a drop or an ounce of communication with the Clippers for almost three weeks,” Hennigan said. “So, if we’re about to make a trade with them, I guess I missed that memo.”
