Clippers Pushing Hardest To Allow More Family, Friends Into Bubble

Jun 24, 2020 1:29 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers have been the team who has been most vocal about pushing for more family and friends to be allowed into the NBA's bubble in Orlando earlier in the timeline, according to sources that spoke with Sam Amick of The Athletic.

The Clippers hope the league will eventually allow at least one family member or friend to join players at the start of the first round.

“They’re fighting for that,” a rival GM said.

Paul George Explains Reason He Requested Trade From Pacers

Jun 23, 2020 12:39 PM

Paul George explained why he left the Indiana Pacers in a Knuckleheads podcast with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles.

George suggests the best power forward in the NBA in 2017 wanted to join the Pacers to play with George.

“I ain’t gon’ say the names, because I’m going to keep their business private, I’ma just say it like this," said George. "I had at the time, the best power forward saying he wanted to come to Indy and team up with me.

“They’re like, ‘we’re a mid-major, we’re a small market, like, we can’t do it, we’re a small market, we can’t afford that.’ I’m like the best power forward wants to come play here, like, y’all can’t make that work? They didn’t want to do it.”

George was disappointed that the Pacers didn't want to make the move that he thought would improve their team.

“So I’m like, now I’m pissed, because it’s like, what am I doing here? You know what I mean? They don’t want to win. I’ve got the best power forward that wants to come play here. Not everybody chooses Indy to come play here.”

George is possibly referring to Blake Griffin or Paul Millsap.

George said he contacted his agent about requesting a trade after that conversation he had with the Indiana front office.

Lou Williams Says He's '50-50' On Whether NBA Should Resume Season

Jun 20, 2020 1:28 AM

Lou Williams reiterated his concern over whether the resumption of the NBA season would take attention away from the Black Lives Matter movement.

Williams added that he was still "50-50" in deciding whether the league should return.

"The point that some of the guys are raising about not playing is, basically, we don't want to be a distraction. ... In six weeks, the world may need some healing. They may need us to be on the floor. But if more black kids or black adults or any adults that's dealing with police brutality are getting killed, and we are still outraged, I don't know if it is in our best interest to suit up," said Williams on a call on Friday.

Williams, who reiterated that he doesn't want games to be a distraction from wider social issues, also discussed ways in which players could use the return as a platform to show their support.

"If we do suit up -- and we are having conversations behind closed doors -- how much of this platform can we really use? Can we get a Black Lives Matter patch on our jersey? Can our jerseys say Black Lives Matter? Can the court say Black Lives Matter? So we can use that platform to the best of our abilities. Honestly, it is hard to call. I'm 50-50, to be honest with you."
