John Wall Says Washington Is 'Still My City'

Dec 11, 2022 8:27 AM

LA Clippers guard John Wall had a happy homecoming to Washington D.C., where he spent the first 10 years of his NBA career. Wall scored 13 points and helped lead the Clippers to a victory over the Washington Wizards.

At one point in the second quarter, Wall scored six consecutive points and proclaimed Washington is "Still my city!" That was just one part of a special night for the veteran point guard, who admitted the return wasn't lost on him.

“Trying to fantasize and be in that moment for a minute,” Wall said. “It was a lot of chills, trying not to cry, hold back a lot of emotions.

“I felt like just being here is still so surreal to me, still don’t feel right, still feel different, but like I said, I enjoyed every part of this game.”

Teammate Marcus Morris said it was one of the best returns he's seen, while Ty Lue said it was nice to see Wall get his flowers from Wizards fans. For his part, Wall isn't counting anything out.

“I’m still not saying goodbye,” Wall said. “Never know what the future can hold.”

Kawhi Leonard, Paul George To Join Clippers On Road Trip

Dec 3, 2022 9:15 PM

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will join the Los Angeles Clippers on their upcoming four-game road trip.

The duo practiced on Friday but sat out the team's 123-96 loss to the Kings on Saturday.

Leonard has missed six straight games with a sprained right ankle, with George missing seven consecutive games with a right hamstring strain.

"They're injured, they're hurt and they're doing everything they can to get back. Hopefully we can get them back on this trip. That's our main thing right now is trying to get these guys back," said Ty Lue.

Norman Powell and Luke Kennard are also expected to join the team for the road trip.

Kawhi Leonard, Paul George On Verge Of Return To Playing In Games

Dec 2, 2022 4:23 PM

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George returned to practice with the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday and are both on the verge of playing again in games.

Leonard has been out for five games with a sprained right ankle. George has missed six with a right hamstring tendon strain.

"They're going to do something today and just kind of see how they feel," Tyronn Lue said before practice. "But both are progressing really well."

The Clippers have had players in and out of the lineup for much of the season because of injuries and restrictions.

"I'm excited to get guys back, PG and Kawhi, get Luke back," Lue said. "But now we gotta wait on Norm so hopefully he feels better soon. But I am very excited just to kind of see what we have.

"It'll take a little time [to get a rhythm]. Kawhi coming back still having a minute restriction. And our back-to-back situations [of holding out Leonard in one of the games]. So it's going to take a little time just figuring out the rotations, who plays well with who, trying to figure out how to split Kawhi's minutes and what's best for the team and what's best for him as well."
