The Memphis Grizzlies have traded Jarell Martin and cash to the Orlando Magic for Dakari Johnson and the draft rights to Tyler Harvey.

This move brings the Grizzlies under the luxury tax.

The Memphis Grizzlies have signed rookie forward Yuta Watanabe to a two-way contract.

Watanabe (6-9, 205) joined the Brooklyn Nets’ summer league team after going unselected in the 2018 NBA Draft and averaged 9.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.60 blocks in 24.0 minutes in five games (two starts) during the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2018 in Las Vegas.

A native of Kagawa, Japan, the 23-year-old came to the United States in 2013 and played four years collegiately (2014-18) at George Washington University, where he became the first Japanese-born student-athlete to earn an NCAA Division I men’s basketball scholarship.

The Sacramento Kings have traded Garrett Temple to the Memphis Grizzlies for Ben McLemore, Deyonta Davis, cash and a 2021 second round pick.

Temple gives the Grizzlies one more versatile, veteran wing.

The deal clears an additional $1 million in salary-cap space for the Kings, who now have $20.5 million.

The Boston Celtics have received interest on sign-and-trade scenarios for Marcus Smart from the Memphis Grizzlies and Brooklyn Nets.

Smart has already met with the Nets.

The Celtics have had zero communication with Smart. A source close to Smart says he's been "unresponsive" because he is “insulted by what he feels is a lack of respect by front office.”

Smart has a limited restricted free agent market with teams lacking cap space and the Celtics widely expected to match any reasonable offer.

The San Antonio Spurs have declined to match the four-year, $37 million offer sheet Kyle Anderson signed with the Memphis Grizzlies.
