Ja Morant will miss the next three to five weeks with a Grade 2 ankle sprain.

Morant landed on the foot of Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot attempting a block.

Morant left the floor in a wheelchair and later returned to the bench in a walking boot.

Ja Morant left the court in a wheelchair after spraining his left ankle in the second quarter.

Morant attempted to block Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot's shot and landed awkwardly on Luwawu-Cabarrot's foot. Morant couldn't put any weight on his left leg and hopped to the sidelines before collapsing next to the Grizzlies' bench.

Morant was averaging 36 points and eight assists through the first two games of the season.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported that an x-ray revealed no fracture.

De’Anthony Melton will miss the Memphis Grizzlies' game against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday due to health and safety protocols.

The Grizzlies play the Nets, Celtics, and Hornets next week.

The Memphis Grizzlies exercised their 2021-22 options for Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., Brandon Clarke and Grayson Allen.

Morant was the unanimous choice for Rookie of the Year last season, while Clarke joined Morant on the All-Rookie first team.

Jackson was on the All-Rookie team for the 2018-19 season. 

The Memphis Grizzlies will waive Mario Hezonja.

Multiple teams are expected to express interest in Hezonja after training camp end.

Hezonja spent last season with the Portland Trail Blazers.
