Justise Winslow Says 'The Bubble Is Tricky' Due To Movement Of Employees

Jun 20, 2020 1:16 AM

Justise Winslow called the Orlando bubble idea "tricky," especially considering how Disney employees would be able to freely move outside of the campus.

"The bubble is tricky, man. From the COVID standpoint, I don't think it's a great idea just to have all these people in a bubble and tight spaces. It's almost the opposite of social distancing.

"We're going to have workers who are working for Disney; they're going to be going home and seeing their family and doing whatever they want to do, but then they are going to come back," Winslow told Caron Butler during a discussion on Twitter.

Winslow said he recognized the seriousness of the virus, though also understood the business impact of the league's potential resumption.

Winslow added that he didn't know whether the return of games would distract from larger social issues.

"People are out there fighting. People are meeting in person, on Zoom, people are fighting the fight. I don't know when the season resumes if it'll be a distraction or if it'll be an even better platform. That's yet to be seen. I know myself and plenty other players, whatever it is, if we're playing, we're going to try and use that platform and keep bringing awareness."

Ja Morant Asks Kentucky Judge To Remove Confederate Monument In Murray

Jun 14, 2020 12:51 PM

Ja Morant wrote a letter to a Kentucky judge asking for the removal of a Confederate monument in downtown Murray.

"As a young Black man, I cannot stress enough how disturbing and oppressive it is to know the city still honors a Confederate war general defending white supremacy and hatred," wrote Murray in the letter to a Calloway County judge.

The monument, erected in 1917, features a statue of Robert E. Lee.

"Given recent events and the Black Lives Matter movement, it's necessary to act now. We can't change the culture of racism unless we change the celebration of racism," added Morant.

Eighth Seed Needs To Be Beaten Twice In Play-In Tournament

Jun 3, 2020 11:30 AM

The NBA will have a play-in tournament for the eighth seed as part of its 22-team return-to-play, but there will be several conditions.

If the ninth seed is four or more games back, then the eighth seed will earn the spot in the playoffs.

If the ninth seed or higher is four or fewer games behind, then there will be a play-in tournament. The ninth seed will be a single-elimination format, while the existing eighth seed will need to lose twice.

In the Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies currently own the eighth seed with the Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs each within four games. The Phoenix Suns are six games behind the Grizzlies.

In the Eastern Conference, the Orlando Magic are five-and-a-half games ahead of the Washington Wizards.
