Kurt Thomas Likely To Pick Between Knicks, Bulls, Heat, Mavs

Nov 28, 2011 11:23 PM

Kurt Thomas could end up with either the Knicks, Bulls, Heat or Mavericks.

“That’s the great thing about free agency,” Thomas said Monday. “A lot of things can happen. Teams have to make a decision on players but I also have a say in where I might end up.”

Thomas spent the 10-11 season with the Bulls.

Thomas was a longtime member of the Knicks before he was traded in 2004 to the Suns.

LeBron, Wade, Carmelo, Paul To Host Four-Game Homecoming Tour

Nov 21, 2011 1:50 PM

LeBron James, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony are staging a four-game "Homecoming Tour".

The slate of games will begin on December 1st in Akron, followed by a December 4th game in New Orleans, a December 7th game in Chicago and a December 10th game in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Proceeds from the tour will go to food drives, educational outreach programs and clinics.

"It'll be very neat," Wade told The Associated Press. "First of all, this is something we talked about doing a long time ago as players. To have an opportunity to go to these different cities that we're from, to bring basketball to them at a high level and also have a charitable component in each city and to be with the guys, it'll be cool. It's something we're looking forward to."

Chris Bosh is also expected to play in all four games.

Wade Remains Neutral On Jordan

Nov 18, 2011 11:11 AM

Dwyane Wade is remaining neutral when it comes to Michael Jordan's reportedly staunch stance against the players in lockout negotiations. Wade is one of leading endorsers of Jordan's label.

"I really didn't need to get involved in all that," Wade said. "Obviously I wear a different hat than certain other guys that got involved in it. And I stay away from it. I have an obligation and I have a job to do and I'm going to do my job."

Nick Young, Paul George and Klay Thompson were outspoken in their criticism of Jordan and promised to not wear his merchandise.

"That's on Nick Young," Wade said. "That's his moment. Obviously, that's his own choice and decision and, you know, that's something he's going to have to deal with. I can't let that affect me. I have my own things to run, my own stuff to think about what I'm doing with my own shoes.

"Obviously, I heard about it, because you can't do nothing but hear about everything now, because there's nothing else to do."

Wade Examining Overseas Options

Nov 18, 2011 11:08 AM

Dwyane Wade is disappointed to be locked out and is beginning to examine his alternative plans.

"I can't imagine going a year without basketball and I don't think that will happen," he said. "Some way, some how, I'm going to be part of a team.

"I can't see myself sitting out a full year, not playing basketball, at some kind of high level. Obviously, the level I want to be playing on is the NBA level and that's what we're going continue to try to do, but if that is not the case, I will try to find a way where I can play at a high level."

The lockout is now in its fifth month.

"I have gotten on the phone with my agent, saying, 'Listen, maybe we need to peak our head on the other side and see the possibilities,' " he said of playing overseas. "Obviously, to have a season and go back January 1st and to know you need 30 days once the deal is complete, something's got to be done soon. But you've got to open up the possibility, so I am looking."

Bosh Sees Player Movement Restrictions As Response To 2010

Nov 15, 2011 8:10 PM

Chris Bosh said the Heat are unanimous in their support for the players' decision to pursue a legal strategy.

Bosh also sees the decisions made by himself, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade as contributing to some of the rules the leagues wishes to implement to restrict player movement.

"I mean, if you look at the free agents coming up in the same situations, with Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Deron Williams, they can control their own fate," he said. "They have the power to control that and I think that's a great thing. In any job you want freedom to negotiate.

"With us doing what we did, and Carmelo going to the Knicks, I think that has a lot to do with it. Hopefully we can keep that and guys can come and go and make the deal that's best for them and their family."

Shaq: LeBron Could Be 'A Scientific Dawg Like Kobe But Is More Like Me'

Nov 15, 2011 6:29 PM

Shaquille O'Neal believes LeBron James has more in common with himself than he does with Kobe Bryant.

“Kobe is a scientific dawg. He works out every day, practices every day. Most of the other stars are just dawgs, not scientific dawgs. Me, I’m a freak-of-nature dawg because of my size. LeBron could be a scientific dawg like Kobe, but he’s got a lot going on like I did, so that’s preventing him from being one.”

Shaq: Cavaliers Allowed LeBron To Do Whatever He Wanted

Nov 2, 2011 11:13 AM

Shaquille O'Neal spent one season with LeBron James playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers and talks about their time as teammates in his forthcoming autobiography.

“LeBron was a huge star,” O’Neal wrote in the autobiography. “He was as big as I was in 2000 in L.A. when I was dominating the league.

“Our coach, Mike Brown, was a nice guy, but he had to live on edge because nobody was supposed to be confrontational with LeBron. Nobody wanted him to leave Cleveland, so he was allowed to do whatever he wanted to do.

“I remember one day in a film session LeBron didn’t get back on defense after a missed shot. Mike Brown didn’t say anything about it. He went to the next clip and it was Mo Williams not getting back and Mike was saying, ‘Yo, Mo, we can’t have that. You’ve got to hustle a little more.’ So Delonte West is sitting there and he’s seen enough and he stands up and says, ‘Hold up, now. You can’t be pussyfooting around like that. Everyone has to be accountable for what they do, not just some us.’ Mike Brown said, ‘I know, Delonte. I know.’ Mike knew Delonte was right.

“I’m not sure if Kobe [Bryant] is going to listen to Mike Brown [now Lakers coach]. LeBron never really did.”

Baron Would Prefer Lakers, Knicks, Not Heat

Nov 1, 2011 6:45 PM

If the Cavaliers decide to shed the contract of Baron Davis using the proposed amnesty clause of the new CBA, his preference is to play for the Lakers or Knicks.

Another option for Davis would be the Bobcats.

Sources say the Heat would not be near the top of the list for Davis.
