Wade's Agent Set To Appeal Suspension

Dec 30, 2012 1:28 PM

Dwyane Wade's agent, Henry Thomas, said on Sunday that he plans to appeal Wade's one-game suspension for the shot to the groin of Ramon Sessions.

Wade was forced to sit out Friday's game and lost in excess of $150,000 for the missed contest.

"We are doing it on the basis that I don't think the suspension was warranted," Thomas said.

"He felt that it wasn't warranted. I saw the play and I just don't think that it was."

Appeal hearings can take months, but Thomas is confident that lost wages will be reclaimed once it is held.

"Absolutely," he said. "The players' association will file the appeal. The money will go in escrow and then when the hearing's held, it's held."

Allen Open To Television Work After NBA Career

Dec 29, 2012 8:22 PM

MILWAUKEE – When Ray Allen retires from the NBA, he believes that working as a television analyst will appeal to him.

Any job, however, would have to ensure that Allen could stay close to his family, the 37-year-old said before Saturday’s game between the Miami Heat and Bucks.

The Bucks didn’t express interest in Allen last offseason, but he admitted he “can’t say” he would have considered his former team even if it had called.

Heat Don't Agree With Wade's Suspension

Dec 28, 2012 1:39 PM

The Miami Heat believe Dwyane Wade did not deserve a one-game suspension for his shot to the groin of Ramon Sessions in Wednesday's win over the Charlotte Bobcats.

“We accept it but we don’t agree with it,” Erik Spoelstra said. “As an organization, we have his back. That was a very physical game, there were a lot of hard hits in that game, and what we’re getting tired of as an organization are the hits in particular to Dwyane and LeBron (James) and Chris (Bosh) and that is the gameplan against us. Now our guys thrive on that type of gameplan, and they are physical players, but there is an excess of hard fouls against our guys.”

Wade has adamantly stated he didn't kick Sessions on purpose.

“It was a bang-bang play, man,” Wade said. “It was a play that you have to kind of be there. It was something that was looked at over video review, and it can be taken any kind of way.

“We’re just going to play the game that they allow us to play."

LeBron On Pace To Join Bird, Kareem, Wilt For Record Month

Dec 28, 2012 11:27 AM

LeBron James is averaging 26.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists for December.

If James can sustain those numbers over the final three games of December, he will join Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players to post such numbers in a month in the past 45 years.

Brid was the last to accomplish the feat in March of 1987.

“We don’t take LeBron’s talent for granted,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “We never do. He gets it done on both ends. He takes a big workload for us and took over in the fourth quarter again [Wednesday] and made some big plays for us.”

Heat Retain Confidence In Chalmers In Big Situations

Dec 26, 2012 11:25 AM

Mario Chalmers scored 20 points in the Miami Heat's 103-97 win on Christmas over the Thunder.

Chalmers entered the game averaging 6.5 points per game.

“No one ever doubts Rio in big games,” Erik Spoelstra said.

“You want him in your foxhole when the pressure is high.”

Chalmers helped the Heat extend their fourth quarter lead with five consecutive points.

“We’re clearly a better team when he is at his best,” Spoelstra said. “You have to have everyone as a live offensive threat. Everyone has to have balance.”
