Krzyzewski Encouraged Battier To Sign With Miami

Aug 28, 2012 7:48 PM

Mike Krzyzewski encouraged Shane Battier to sign with the Heat last summer.

“(Krzyzewski) was the one who wanted me to go to Miami more than anyone else,” Battier said. “In the end, like always, he was right.”

Battier played at Duke while Nick Arison, son of Heat owner Micky Arison, was a student-manager. Nick Arison is now the Heat’s chief executive officer.

“We all knew Nick was going to move into the front office of the Heat. I remember as a senior I said, ‘If you guys need a small forward, keep me in mind,’” Battier said. “Last summer was the first summer of free agency in my career, and it was really cool to be able to call up a friend and say, ‘Let’s win a championship together.’”

Wade: Big Three Needs To Continue To Evolve

Aug 25, 2012 12:07 PM

Dwyane Wade doesn't want the Heat to have a similar post-championship season as the Heat experienced in 06-07.

"We want to be a lot more prepared than we were," said Wade. "I have no worries that we will be. I'm a lot better with this group of guys we have. It's a totally different mentality being with the guys we have than then."

The Heat will incorporate Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis into the rotation.

"Our mentality, obviously, is LeBron is one of the best players in this game, hands down, and we want him to continue to be that player," he said. "But, also, you never know who's going to emerge."

Wade also talked about how essential it is that he, LeBron James and Chris Bosh continue to evolve.

"You never know what player is going to start off and be playing a certain way and you switch things up a little bit," Wade said. "But we have that luxury, because we have not only three marquee players, but we have a lot of other players on our team that's very capable, highly capable, and very good."

Celtics, Spurs, Lakers, Warriors, Jazz Rated As Having Best Uniforms By Uni Watch

Aug 24, 2012 10:52 AM

Paul Lukas of Uni Watch ranks the uniforms of all 30 NBA teams, with the Celtics coming in first.

"The Rolling Stones, "Goodfellas," a Hershey's with almonds -- the classics are classic for a reason," writes Lukas about the Celtics. "That definitely applies to the Celtics' set. No goofy side panels, no extraneous bells or whistles -- just a perfect, vertically arched wordmark and a simple green-and-white color scheme. They rank atop this list despite sometimes wearing that black-trimmed alternate."

The Spurs, Lakers, Warriors and Jazz comprise the remainder of the top-five.

"The Raiders aren't the only team that knows how to wear silver and black," writes Lukas in regards to the Spurs. "In addition to the killer colors, the Spurs are also among the few NBA teams that have successfully incorporated a graphic image into their chest typography -- a small element that goes a long way."
