LeBron Injures Groin, Aggravates Sprained Ankle

Dec 28, 2013 12:37 PM

LeBron James suffered a groin injury and aggravated a left ankle sprain in a 108-103 loss in overtime by the Miami Heat to the Sacramento Kings.

"It's not feeling too well right now," said James, who scored 11 of the Heat's 19 points in the overtime period after getting hot from 3-point range. "I don't know what happened in the first half. I played [much of] the second half and overtime, and strained my groin. I'll see how I feel on our trip to Portland tonight and into tomorrow. But it ain't feeling too good right now."

James' status for Saturday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers is uncertain.

LeBron James Credits Offseason Training For Good Health

Dec 25, 2013 11:59 PM

LeBron James said on Wednesday that he is appreciative of staying healthy and credited the good fortune on pushing himself in the offseason.

"I don't have a key," James said. "I've been fortunate to be healthy. I try to do everything I can as far as strength and conditioning to stay above the curve, I guess. I don't have an answer for it.

"We all know Father Time, whatever the case may be, is undefeated. But you just try to slow it down, I guess."

James and Norris Cole are the only Miami Heat players to appear in all 28 games this season.

"For me, I try to take care of everything I can off the court in the offseason, so when I get into the season, I can just go full steam," James said. "When I do have a bump in the road I'm able to come back from it a little faster than anyone else would or I would, because I've always been able to keep my body right.

"But I don't have a success story or a key to it. I just try to prepare the best that I can."

LeBron On Dunk: I Like McLemore, Sucks It Was Him

Dec 21, 2013 2:49 PM

LeBron James cleared Ben McLemore for a tomahawk dunk in Friday's win by the Miami Heat over the Sacramento Kings that instantly went viral.

“It sucks that it was him,” James said after the game. “Because I like him. That sucks.”

“I just went over there to try and take the charge,” McLemore said before letting out a smile. “And he dunked the ball.”

McLemore second-guessed himself after the play.

“Afterwards, I thought maybe I should have just fouled him,” McLemore said. “Knowing it was LeBron, I knew they weren't going to call (a charge), but I was just playing to my defensive principles. Even though they didn't call it, I didn't let that mess my game up.”

LeBron Had Extra 'Incentive' To Play Through Ankle Injury Against Pacers

Dec 19, 2013 1:55 AM

The Miami Heat came from behind to defeat the Indiana Pacers in a game that had a playoff-like atmosphere.

James played despite rolling his ankle on Monday.

“I’m nowhere near 100 percent … but I’m good enough where I can be productive,” James said. “If I felt like I was going to hurt the team tonight, I wouldn’t be playing.”

James even admitted that he had extra "incentive" to play against the Pacers despite lingering soreness in the ankle with homecourt advantage in the Eastern Conference Playoffs at stake.

LeBron James To Be Cautious With Sprained Left Ankle

Dec 17, 2013 3:09 PM

LeBron James sprained his left ankle on Sunday and the Miami Heat star says he will "police" himself with the injury ahead of Wednesday's game against the Indiana Pacers.

"It's about the same," James said after Tuesday's practice. "Like I said, I've had my fair share of ankle twists. I already knew what it was going to be today, very stiff, very sore. I'm going to be around the clock treatment.

"I'm going to sit if I'm not feeling comfortable (Wednesday) night. It doesn't matter who we're playing. Obviously, if it was a playoff game I would play. So it doesn't matter. We are a long-term team and I'm a long-term player. I'm going to try my best to police myself on this one. If we played (Tuesday), I probably wouldn't play but we'll see how I feel."

In his 11 NBA seasons, James has missed 10 games due to sprained ankles.

"He's going to play," Chris Bosh said. "He's just fooling everybody. He'll be fine. … He just loves basketball. We've been in this situation before. He's turned his ankle before. We could play whoever and he's going to play the next game."
