Dwyane Wade Misses Game 4 To Rest Knee

Apr 28, 2013 3:42 PM

MILWAUKEE – After working out pregame, Dwyane Wade missed the Miami Heat’s Game 4 against the Bucks on Sunday afternoon, deciding to rest his knee.

Wade warmed up without his knee pads, and Heat assistant coaches walked off the court confident that the All-Star guard could play if needed. Wade has dealt with a sore right knee this season and tweaked his forearm in Thursday’s Game 3 win.

The Heat have a 3-0 lead over the Bucks in this first round matchup and should still close out the matchup. Mike Miller will start at shooting guard in Wade's place.

Wade missed 11 of 12 shots in Game 3, but he made critical plays to allow the Heat to pull away in the second half, finishing with 11 assists and nine rebounds. He has averaged 13.7 points, seven rebounds and 6.3 assists over three playoff games.

Source: LeBron, William Wesley Rarely Speak Anymore

Apr 27, 2013 2:25 PM

With Jay-Z becoming a sports agent, speculation has risen that LeBron James could become a client.

Jay-Z has partnered with CAA, where William 'Worldwide Wes' Wesley is also an agent.

Wesley has long been thought of as having the ear of James, but a person with knowledge of the situation said that the two rarely speak anymore.

Jay-Z and James are unquestionably friends, but the extent of the relationship has likely been overstated.

James is currently represented by childhood friend Rich Paul, who was formerly with CAA

Wade Day-To-Day With Bruised Right Knee; Spoelstra Downplays Condition

Apr 26, 2013 3:38 PM

Dwyane Wade is listed as day-to-day with a bruised right knee.

"He's been dealing with this for over a month," Erik Spoelstra said. "It's getting better. But he plays a physical game. He was on the ground four or five times [Thursday] night. One was a collision where he got fouled in the first half, he got hit in the elbow, he got hit in the face, he got hit in the knee, all in one play.

"But he's fighting through it. Some days are a little bit better than others, depending on the collisions he has from the night before."

Wade struggled offensively in Thursday's Game 3 against the Milwaukee Bucks, shooting just 1-for-12 from the field with four points and six turnovers.

"He came over to me at one point," Spoelstra said of Thursday's game, "and I just made sure, 'Hey, you OK?' And he said, 'I'm good to go Coach. Whatever we need.' "

Wade recorded five steals, nine rebounds and 11 assists in 28 minutes.

LeBron Upset At Finishing Second In DPOY Voting

Apr 26, 2013 11:55 AM

LeBron James is not happy with finishing second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.

“It definitely sucks, finishing second,” James said. “Who wants to finish second?”

James said he “probably” put together the best defensive season of his career.

“I guard everybody on the floor,” James said. “I don’t if it’s one player in NBA history who guards one through five. So … it’s over with now, but that’s OK.”

The Heat are $13.4 million over the luxury tax this season and their obligation will increase next season.

Pat Riley was asked on Friday if he believes the Heat will be able to keep the core together.

"It's doable in this tax economy. but I'm going to leave it to Micky [Arison.]"

Pierce Still Upset Over Allen's Decision To Join Heat

Apr 13, 2013 9:35 PM

Paul Pierce remains upset over Ray Allen’s decision to sign with the Miami Heat.

“One day when it’s all said and done, I’m sure we’ll talk about it off to the side,” Pierce said when asked if he was capable of forgiving Allen for joining the Celtics’ bitterest conference rival. “But not right now.”

“It definitely hurt me,” Pierce said. “Say we play the Lakers for the championship, and two years later I go and sign with the Lakers. That’s the equivalent of what he did.”

Allen was told of Pierce’s comments prior to Miami’s Friday night game against the Celtics.

“I miss playing with Paul, and being his teammate,” Allen said. “There’s a lot of sentimentality from me being there and walking with those guys. That doesn’t change. I wouldn’t take that away from him. I respect him feeling that way. Those feelings are justified. I’m not on his team anymore, I’m not helping them win.

“His feelings are hurt, but he knows, he understands. He and I can look at each other and exchange a glance, because he knows what I had to do. He knows.”

Wade Frustrated By Critics, Knows He's 'Hell Of A Player'

Apr 10, 2013 9:08 AM

On the wrong side of 30, Dwyane Wade hears critics talking whenever he has a bad game with the Miami Heat.

"When you're doing it front of the public eye and people are taking shots at you and you're not feeling well, it frustrates you," he said. "If I'm not crying about, if I'm not out there saying 'Woe is me,' then I don't feel it needs to be discussed."

LeBron James sees what the criticisms do to Wade on a daily basis.

"It was pissing him off more than anything while he was getting jabbed by everybody saying he's not the same," James said.

Wade has missed the past five games with a sore knee and ankle. He hobbled through the last postseason with knee issues, but Miami still won the title. He has played well since January when on the floor.

Since January, he has averaged 22 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.3 steals and shot 52.7% from the field.

"I don't have an ego in terms of what people say about me now or my role on this team because I know I'm a hell of a player," Wade said. "I know I can be a top five player and lead the league in scoring if I didn't decide to take a lesser role. That doesn't' take away from what I've done in this game and what I'll continue to do in this game and what I can still do."

Dwyane Wade, who is recovering from a right knee injury, hasn't ruled out resting for the remainder of the regular season.

Wade has missed six of the Heat's past eight games and is still dealing with soreness and swelling in the knee.

"The most important thing is to be healthy," he said. "So when I feel it, then I'll get back on the court. Obviously, I want to play. But I have to make sure that I'm right. You have to get healthy."

James has sat out Miami's last three games with a strained hamstring.

Dwyane Wade, Mario Chalmers and Ray Allen have all sat out games with injuries recently.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Bosh has been dealing with soreness in his right knee the past few days after hyper-extending it three games ago.
