Dion Waiters Found Knicks Appealing In Free Agency

Nov 30, 2017 11:09 AM

The New York Knicks had interest in Dion Waiters in free agency but he ultimately decided to re-sign with the Miami Heat. Waiters signed a four-year, $52 million deal to stay with the Heat.

Waiters met with Steve Mills during the offseason.

"They were talking, they were trying,’’ Waiters told The Post. "My agent was talking to them more than I was."

The Knicks eventually moved on to sign Tim Hardaway Jr.

"It was close to home and it’s New York, too," Waiters said. “It wouldn’t have been bad. It’s New York, the Garden. I went to Syracuse, man. So it’s like cool."

Okaro White is out indefinitely with a broken foot.

White was hurt during what the Miami Heat described as “a freak play” during Tuesday’s practice.

Hassan Whiteside Counseled By Miami's Captains After Benching

Nov 7, 2017 11:13 AM

Goran Dragic, James Johnson and Udonis Haslem counseled Hassan Whiteside and addressed his level of effort after he was benched for nearly the entire second half of Miami's loss at Golden State.

Zaza Pachulia made an uncontested layup early in the second half while Whiteside was arguing with an official, which led to the benching.

Erik Spoelstra referred to the move as a "coach's decision," but Miami's three captains discussed the situation with Whiteside after the game with reporters.

"Sometimes you just don't have it," Dragic said, according to the Miami Herald. "[Whiteside] admitted, 'Hey guys, I let you down.' Look, we're here to help him. He's on our team. He's our player. We love him and this is the only thing that matters."
