Heat To Use Coronavirus-Sniffing Dogs To Screen Fans For Home Games

Jan 24, 2021 2:02 PM

The Miami Heat will use coronavirus-sniffing dogs to screen fans who attend home games at AmericanAirlines Arena.

The team plan to keep attendance under 2,000 fans, starting this Thursday against the Clippers.

Fans attending games will enter a screening area, where a detection dog will pass by. Should a dog sit, that is a sign that it has detected COVID-19.

There is also an option for fans to skip the dog screening and submit to a rapid antigen test. Tests can be processed within 45 minutes.

Heat Have 'High' Level Of Interest In Trading For Bradley Beal

Jan 15, 2021 4:46 PM

The Miami Heat continue to have a "high" level of interest in trading for Bradley Beal, a source told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The Washington Wizards have maintained Beal is not available.

The Heat could offer first round picks in 2025 and 2027 along with Tyler Herro and either Duncan Robinson or Pracious Achiuwa.

The recent trend in trades involving stars have been for teams to send out their entire suite of future draft picks and swaps, which limits Miami's ability to trade for Beal depending on how Washington values the young players already on the Heat.

The Heat were unwilling to give up Herro, Robinson and Achiuwa for James Harden.

Heat Expected To Remain Interested In James Harden, Bradley Beal

The Miami Heat are expected to remain interested in trading for either James Harden or Bradley Beal, sources tell Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

The Heat have begun the season with a 4-4 record and rank 23rd in offensive efficiency.

Miami can only offer their 2027 first round pick currently unless they change the protection on a pick owed to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Heat Were Open To Trading Multiple Young Players In Deal For James Harden

Jan 7, 2021 11:07 AM

The Miami Heat were open to trading multiple young players and potentially a 2025 first rounder to the Houston Rockets in exchange for James Harden.

The Heat are currently unable to trade a future first round pick due to the pick obligation of their 2023 first round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Heat and Thunder could agree to a deal to unlock that pick protection.

The Heat would have to include Andre Iguodala and Kelly Olynyk to match salary.

Houston could want even more than a package of Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Precious Achiuwa, KZ Okpala, Iguodala, Olynyk and first round picks in 2025 and 2027, sources tell the Miami Herald.

Miami currently is unwilling to give up that much in a trade package for Harden.
