Victor Oladipo Could Return For Heat Next Month

Jan 26, 2022 8:56 AM

Miami Heat guard Victor Oladipo has been out of action for almost 10 months, but his return to the court may be nearing. Oladipo has looked good in recent workouts and could make his season debut in February.

After being acquired from the Houston Rockets before the 2021 trade deadline, Oladipo only appeared in four games for Miami. He was shut down with knee soreness after the game on April 8, 2021 and hasn't appeared in a game since.

The Heat re-signed Oladipo to a "make good" one-year minimum contract for this season. Miami retains full Bird rights for the scoring guard and could give Oladipo a healthy raise this summer if he shows he's healthy and back to form.

Jimmy Butler Exits Game With Ankle Injury

Jan 4, 2022 9:08 AM

On a drive to the basket late in the third quarter, Jimmy Butler planted his right foot awkwardly and went down in pain. Butler had to be helped to the locker room and missed the remainder of the Miami Heat's loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Butler was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Butler will undergo further evaluation on Tuesday. Spoelstra said Butler turned his ankle, but added, "If you talk to Jimmy right now, he says he's fine."

Miami is already without 11 players due to injuries and the health and safety protocols. Four Heat starters missed the game against the Warriors, along with several key reserves.
