Heat's Caleb Martin, Nikola Jovic Suspended One Game; Raptors Christian Koloko fined $15K

Oct 23, 2022 9:51 PM

The NBA has suspended Miami Heat forwards Caleb Martin and Nikola Jovic for one game apiece for their roles in an altercation against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday night. Toronto's Christian Koloko was fined $15,000 for his part in the incident.

While battling for position with 7:46 remaining in Saturday's game in Miami, Martin taunted Koloko before tackling him into the stands. Koloko then grabbed Martin during the altercation. Jovic is being suspended for leaving the bench area and getting involved in the dustup.

Both Martin and Jovic will serve their suspensions as the Heat again host the Raptors on Monday.

Victor Oladipo Out Against Bulls With Left Knee Tendonosis

Oct 19, 2022 1:35 AM

Victor Oladipo will miss the Miami Heat's regular-season opener against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday due to left knee tendonosis.

Erik Spoelstra said that Oladipo would be day-to-day.

“This is part of the process, when a player like Vic ramps it up, and then you add the workload and everything,” Erik Spoelstra said. “I think this is normal. And we want to proceed with care. And that’s all this is right now.

“He’s day-to-day, and we want to make sure we take care of this, so it doesn’t linger.”

Oladipo has appeared in just 12 regular-season games for the Heat over the past two seasons.

Heat Waive Jamaree Bouyea, Marcus Garrett, Mychal Mulder, Orlando Robinson

Oct 14, 2022 9:03 AM

The Miami Heat have gotten their roster into regular season compliance by waiving four players. The Heat waived Jamaree Bouyea, Marcus Garrett, Mychal Mulder and Orlando Robinson.

Garrett was signed to a Two-Way contract. Miami ended that deal and replaced Garrett with training camp standout Dru Smith on a Two-Way deal.

Bouyea, Mulder and Robinson were all signed to non-guaranteed camp deals. Those three, plus Garrett, are all expected to play with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami's G League affiliate, this season.

The Heat have one open spot on their 15-man standard roster. Given that they are close to the luxury tax line, it's likely Miami will leave that spot open to begin the season.

Heat Believe Jae Crowder Prefers Trade To Them

Oct 12, 2022 10:25 AM

The Miami Heat have expressed confidence that Jae Crowder would prefer to end up with their team.

Crowder didn't want to leave the Heat following their trip to The Finals, but the franchise wasn't willing to match his three-year, $29.1 million offer he received from the Phoenix Suns.

Crowder remains away from the Suns as they look for a trade partner.

The Heat will struggle to find matching salary for Crowder until Caleb Martin, Victor Oladipo and Dewane Dedmon become trade eligible.

The Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics have each been linked to Crowder, but none of those teams are currently involved in talks.

The Atlanta Hawks are also believed to be a preferred landing spot for Crowder.

Heat Interested In Trading For Jae Crowder

Oct 6, 2022 10:01 AM

The Miami Heat have interest in trading for Jae Crowder, sources tell ESPN.

The Heat let Crowder sign with the Phoenix Suns during his 2020 free agency. In 2021, the Heat replaced Crowder with P.J. Tucker, who signed with the Philadelphia 76ers this past offseason.

Miami will struggle to find matching salary to acquire Crowder until Dewayne Dedmon, Caleb Martin and Victor Oladipo become trade-eligible later in the season.
