Heat Discussed John Collins Trade With Hawks

Jul 29, 2022 8:12 AM

The Atlanta Hawks aggressively shopped John Collins this offseason and he was a linked to a number of teams including the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Miami Heat, who have a need at power forward, may have also explored a trade for Collins. The Heat lost PJ Tucker in free agency to the Philadelphia 76ers.

"There has been some Miami, John Collins chatter," said Zach Lowe. "It's old. It might be months old. I don't think it was ever really serious at al. They might revisit that."

The Heat have appeared to be more focused on their attempts to trade for Kevin Durant or Donovan Mitchell this offseason.

Collins re-signed with the Hawks last offseason on a five-year, $125 million contract in restricted free agency.

Heat 'Disinclined' To Include Bam Adebayo In Kevin Durant Trade

Jul 27, 2022 12:59 AM

The Miami Heat remain interested in trading for Kevin Durant but are "disinclined" to part ways with Bam Adebayo, sources told Barry Jackson and Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

Adebayo currently cannot be traded to the Nets unless Ben Simmons is also traded due to the Designated Rookie Extension rule.

It was reported earlier that rival executives are skeptical as to whether the Nets actually want to trade Durant due to the high asking price.

The Heat are able to trade two unprotected first-round picks as things stand.

The team could potentially revisit a Durant trade should it become more realistic in the future.

Bam Adebayo: I Will Win Defensive Player Of The Year This Year

Jul 24, 2022 1:34 PM

Bam Adebayo feels like he should already have two Defensive Player of the Year awards in his trophy case. Adebayo promised campers at a Miami Heat clinic that he will win the award this upcoming season.

“I should have won it the last two years,” Adebayo told the campers. “And I will win it this year.”

Bam Adebayo On Trade Rumors: I Can't Control That

Jul 21, 2022 8:51 PM

As the Miami Heat pursue trade scenarios for Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell, the name of Bam Adebayo has surfaced as the player on their roster with the most trade value. The Heat, for obvious reasons, would prefer to retain Adebayo at all costs.

“It is what it is, control what you can control,” said Adebayo when asked about trade rumors. “Obviously it’s an opportunity for something, but in my opinion, control what you can control. I can’t control that.

“So do what I’ve been doing. I get up early. I work out. Having fun with these kids. And I’m going to go home and go to sleep.”

Adebayo signed a five-year, $163 million extension with the Heat in 2020.

Heat Remain Focused On Trade For Either Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell

Jul 19, 2022 11:50 AM

The Miami Heat remain focused on their efforts to trade for either Kevin Durant or Donovan Mitchell with the team prioritizing the former over the latter.

If the Heat are successful in trading for either player, it almost certainly would require trading Tyler Herro.

Herro is eligible for an extension and his market is unclear though it could require a max or near max contract.

If the Heat don't include Herro in a trade this offseason, there is optimism that they will come to terms on an extension with him by the deadline.

"They always seem to pay their guys,'" one assistant general manager said.
