Milwaukee Management To Weigh Options With Michael Redd

Dec 23, 2004 2:23 AM

Michael Redd continues to be the subject of a possible trade, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.  The Milwaukee management must consider getting value in return for Redd, instead of losing him with no compensation in the offseason.

Bucks GM Larry Harris said Wednesday that the Bucks want Redd in their future. ?All indications are that he wouldn?t be averse to re-signing and staying the rest of his career here,? Harris said. ?He likes it in Milwaukee.?

Before the Portland game, Redd was asked whether the losing would influence his decision. ?It makes me more focused on what goes on here,? he said, pointing at the court. ?I want to stay here.?

Bucks Files A Protest With Leage Over Mason Ejection

Dec 22, 2004 4:21 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks have filed a protest with the NBA over the two technical fouls called against Desmond Mason in the third quarter against Philadelphia on Saturday.

Referee Marc Davis ejected Mason during a timeout with 2 minutes 57 seconds left in the third quarter. Philadelphia led at the time, 69-63, and went on to win, 116-97.

?I placed a call to the league and they?re looking into it,? general manager Larry Harris said.

The Bucks are hoping the league will rescind at least one of the technical fouls. A $500 fine goes along with each one.

Eddie House Signs With The Bucks

Dec 18, 2004 10:12 PM

Guard Eddie House signed with the Milwaukee Bucks before Saturday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The former ASU star, in 13 games with the Charlotte Bobcats this season, averaged 11.1 points while shooting 45.2 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from the 3-point line.

Bucks general manager Larry Harris said he was able to sign House after the NBA granted the team an exemption to have a fourth player on the injured list.

"Eddie was having a career year with Charlotte before being waived," Harris said. "We think he'll be a productive addition to our backcourt."

Michael Redd Indicates That He'd Like To Stay In Milwaukee

Dec 18, 2004 3:11 PM

Bucks' guard Michael Redd made another statement that indicates he would like to stay in Milwaukee, despite the attention he knows he will receive when he can become a free-agent at season's end.

"I've always said I enjoy my team in Milwaukee. I really don't want to go anywhere else," he said Thursday night after his team's 85-77 loss in Chicago. "But we'll deal with it at the end of the season. Milwaukee fans have treated me tremendously. The organization has treated me top-notch. We'll see what happens. I really can't answer that question now. If I dwell on that too much I think it would affect my play and I don't want it to affect my play."

The Bucks still will hold Redd's early Bird rights, meaning they can offer him more money than any other team.

With Rookies Now Available, Rumor Season Begins With Redd To The Cavs

Dec 15, 2004 4:32 AM

According to The Morning Journal, if the Cavaliers offer  rookies Luke Jackson and Anderson Varejao to Milwaukee, the Bucks might deal shooting guard Michael Redd, one of the most coveted free-agents this coming offseason.

Jackson and Varejao are just two of the many players that become eligable to be traded after transactions which occured during the offseason.

In accordance to Article VII, Section 8d of the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, 'no player who signs a contract as a free agent or draft rookie may be traded before the later of three months following the date on which such contract was signed or December 15th of the salary cap year in which such contract was signed.'

Keep up to date when more players become tradable this season, by going to our restriction page, http://www.realgm.com/src_traderestrictions.php?sort=date.

Over 130 players, in addition to Jackson and Varejao, signed in the offseason became trade eligable Wednesday.

Milwaukee Signs Veteran Kendall Gill

Dec 6, 2004 3:21 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed free agent guard Kendall Gill to a contract. At the same time, the Bucks have placed center Daniel Santiago on the injured list with a right eye corneal abrasion.

?Kendall is a proven veteran who can come in and help us right away,? said GM Larry Harris. ?The depth on our roster has been effected by injuries, and we think that Kendall can be a productive player for us and help us restore some of our depth.?

A 14-year NBA veteran, Gill was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the 5th overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft. In 952 career games, Gill has averaged 13.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Last season with the Chicago Bulls, he averaged 9.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in 56 games. Milwaukee will be the seventh team Gill has played with in his career (Charlotte, Seattle, New Jersey, Miami, Minnesota and Chicago).

Pierce and Doc Feud in Boston's 101-100 Win Over Milwaukee

Dec 2, 2004 5:53 AM

The Celtics second straight win, a 101-100 victory over Milwaukee, was overshadowed by an open dispute between Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers in the final minutes of the contest. Pierce hadn't been heeding Rivers' directive to fill a fast-break lane, preferring to stay outside and look for a pass and a chance to isolate his defender.

With 4:45 remaining, Rivers benched Pierce in favor of Jiri Welsch. Rivers and Pierce barked at each other, with the former getting the last words, an emphatic, "You sit."

"Sometimes I'm going to make great decisions; sometimes I'm not going to make great decisions," Rivers said after the game (Pierce left without addressing the media). "But I'm always going to make a decision that I think at the time is good for the team. I think that's the way a coach always has to coach. It's never personal, and you can't look at who it is. You have to look at execution. This team is execution away from being a very good basketball team, and I've got to demand it of all five all the time."

The Celtics were leading by one at the moment, and the margin was the same when time was called at 2:54 and Pierce, who hadn't joined the huddle, was summoned. Gary Payton was in Pierce's ear as the team moved back onto the court, and those two were speaking loudly after Pierce drilled a trey on the ensuing possession.

"When situations happen like that, players seem to always get mad and then they stop playing - and that's not a good way to do it because we're looking for a win," Payton said. "With young players, they always think the way they're going to get back at somebody is to don't take shots and we lose games and then you say, `I told you so.'

"But Paul is a competitor, and when I got out there I re-emphasized to him that we don't need that, we need wins. That's why I went right to him on the next play, got him a big shot. He hit the 3, and that's what a big-time basketball player should do."

"We've got a lot of young kids," said Payton, clearly referring to one in particular. "They don't understand. They've been playing so many years and they've been the man. Nobody's saying nothing to them, and they've got to understand sometimes you're going to have to take what a coach says. He's your coach."

Rivers insisted he is willing to let go of the confrontation.

"There really was no issue except I wanted everybody to run the floor," he said. "I didn't think (Pierce) was running the floor on the last couple of possessions, so I took him out. I don't mind him being upset at all. The game's a fiery game and it's an emotional game. I made my point, put him back in and he made a big shot for me.

"I thought that was a game that if we ran deep in transition we could beat them, and I just wanted him to do that. That was the point I was trying to make to him."
