Ford Expected To Miss Two To Three Weeks

Dec 29, 2005 10:55 PM

T.J. Ford will not be able to help the Milwaukee Bucks end their current slide.

Ford is expected to miss the next two to three weeks with a left midfoot sprain, Bucks general manager Larry Harris announced on Thursday.

Ford, who suffered the injury in the first quarter of a 109-98 loss at Miami on Tuesday, received the prognosis after being evaluated by foot specialist Dr. Eric Malicky earlier Thursday.

The eighth overall pick in 2003, Ford had started all 26 games this season, his first since coming back from spinal cord surgery that forced him to miss all of 2004-05. The guard leads the team in assists with 6.7 per game and is third in scoring with 13.2 points.

Without Ford's services, Milwaukee will try to snap a two-game losing streak when it hosts the New York Knicks on Friday.

Wolves Recall Dwayne Jones From D-League

Dec 29, 2005 1:13 AM

The Minnesota Timberwolves recalled rookie center Dwayne Jones from their D-League affiliate in Florida on Wednesday to shore up their banged-up frontcourt.

Starting center Michael Olowokandi has been bothered by bursitis in his right elbow, and backup Mark Madsen left in the first quarter of Monday's game against Phoenix with a bruised back. Both players were listed as questionable for Wednesday night's game against Seattle.

The Timberwolves assigned Jones to Florida of the D-League on Nov. 4. He has appeared in 10 games for the Flame, making nine starts and averaging 9.7 points and 30.6 minutes per game. He leads the D-League in blocked shots (2.1) per game and ranks second in rebounding (11.6).

Dec 27, 2005 11:59 PM

Milwaukee point guard T.J. Ford injured his left foot early in the Bucks' game against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night and was not expected to return.

Ford was fouled hard by Miami's James Posey as he drove to the basket with 7:52 remaining in the first quarter. Ford was escorted to the Bucks' bench during a timeout. He made two free throws following the timeout, but then was promptly removed from the game.

Taken to the locker room for treatment, Ford was diagnosed with a mid-left foot sprain.

Bogut Beats Buzzer, Spurs

Dec 21, 2005 2:03 AM

Andrew Bogut had the biggest moment of his NBA career. The No. 1 pick in the 2005 draft made a fadeaway jumper as time expired to give the Milwaukee Bucks a 109-107 overtime victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night.

Bogut also scored the tying basket with 14 seconds left in overtime and finished with 19 points, including five in overtime. He added nine rebounds, seven offensive, and two blocked shots.

"I've never had a buzzer-beating game-winner, but to do it in the NBA against the world champions is a great feeling," Bogut said. "The guy I've always looked up to is Tim Duncan. So, to do this against his team is a great feeling for me."

Simmons Tests Injured Shoulder

Dec 20, 2005 2:39 AM

Bobby Simmons can't pinpoint when it happened during the Milwaukee Bucks' home-court victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 10.

But during that game, Simmons bruised his right shoulder, an injury that has kept him out of the lineup for the last four games.

The 6-foot-6 forward was able to take part in practice Monday at the Cousins Center, giving him hope he can return to the lineup when Milwaukee meets the defending champion San Antonio Spurs tonight at the Bradley Center.

"We'll have to see how it feels tomorrow and go from there," Simmons said. "It felt pretty good, just getting back on the floor and getting up and down, once I got my energy going a little bit. It's just a matter of what I can withstand."

Bucks Release Davis, Add Guard Jackson

Dec 16, 2005 12:26 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks announced Thursday that they had released 6-foot-8 forward Josh Davis and signed 6-foot-5 guard Jermaine Jackson.

Davis was released to make room for a guard, answering the Bucks' need at a position where they have become thin because of injuries.

Jackson, who was not drafted out of the University of Detroit in 1999, has played in 105 regular-season National Basketball Association games with Detroit (1999-2000), Toronto (2001-'03), Atlanta (2003) and New York (2004-'05).

In 21 games with the Knicks last season, Jackson averaged 2.0 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

He appeared in two exhibition games with the Chicago Bulls this season.

Jackson, 29, has also played professionally in the Continental Basketball Association, as well as in Spain, Greece and Italy.

Davis has been waived twice by the Bucks this season. He spent the exhibition season with the Bucks, was waived on Nov. 24 but was re-signed on Dec. 5 when forward Joe Smith underwent surgery.

LeBron Drops 52, Bucks Drop Cavs

Dec 11, 2005 12:23 AM

LeBron James scored an NBA season-high 52 points, but T.J. Ford tied his career high with 24 and Michael Redd added 23 to help the Milwaukee Bucks beat James and the Cleveland Cavaliers 111-106 on Saturday night.

James was 19-for-29 from the floor, including 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range, and 9-for-10 from the line. He fell four points short of his career high of 56 set in a loss at Toronto on March 20.

"I don't want to score 50 again for the rest of my career because I am now 0-2 when I score 50," James joked after the game. "I don't look at it as me playing well. It's the fact that we didn't get a win and that's all I care for."

James, who also had seven assists and seven defensive rebounds, had 31 points in the first half on 13-of-17 shooting and 3-of-4 from the 3-point line.

Joe Smith Will Have Knee Surgery

Dec 6, 2005 4:26 AM

The waiting and hoping game is over for Milwaukee Bucks forward Joe Smith.

After enduring off-and-on pain in his left knee for nearly two months, Smith made the decision to undergo arthroscopic surgery, a procedure that will keep him out of the lineup for six to eight weeks.

Bucks doctor John Heinrich is scheduled to perform the surgery today to remove loose cartilage in the knee.

The 6-foot-10 Smith has been plagued with left knee soreness since the opening week of training camp in October. He was able to play in eight games this season, including five starts, and averaged 9.8 points and 9.0 rebounds.

But he suffered renewed swelling in the knee after the Bucks' 99-91 loss to Minnesota on Nov. 25. Smith played 35 minutes in that game.

"I felt we did the right things with the exhibition season, sitting it out for a while, and draining it (the knee) before," Smith said Monday. "Nothing seemed to work. This was our last option, and we're here now."

Smith said he ultimately decided not to seek a second medical opinion, and he indicated the Bucks' medical staff left the decision to him. If all goes well with the surgery and his rehabilitation, Smith might be able to return by the end of January.
