Bogut Has Sprained Wrist, MRI Reveals No Damage

Oct 25, 2007 6:26 PM

Andrew Bogut has a sprained left wrist, the Milwaukee Bucks said Thursday after the 7-foot center had more tests to determine the severity of the injury.

Bogut left the Bucks' preseason game at Denver on Tuesday night in the third quarter. X-rays after the game were negative, and an MRI exam on Wednesday revealed no broken bones or other serious problems.

The team said Bogut, the No. 1 pick of the 2005 draft, will not be available for the Bucks' final two preseason games.

His status is listed as day to day on the injury report, and it's not yet decided whether Bogut will play in Milwaukee's regular-season opener on Oct. 31 in Orlando.

Krystkowiak Likes Yi's Quick Progress

Oct 19, 2007 8:39 AM

Yi Jianlian is progressing quite well in training camp, learning more each day as the countdown continues to the Milwaukee Bucks' season opener Oct. 31 in Orlando.

That's the word from Bucks' coach Larry Krystkowiak, who is closely monitoring the 7-foot power forward from China and the No. 6 overall pick in the June draft.

"I love what he's doing," Krystkowiak said after practice Thursday at the Cousins Center. "I'm really encouraged for what the future holds for him. It's been remarkable how fast he's picked some things up, even today."

Krystkowiak Isn't Rushing Simmons

Oct 18, 2007 8:34 AM

Patience is the word for Milwaukee Bucks' forward Bobby Simmons, and that's just fine with him.

The 6-foot-6 small forward wants no repeats of last season's pain and anguish, when he underwent two surgeries on his right foot and had to miss the entire year.

Bucks' coach Larry Krystkowiak is using plenty of caution with Simmons' workload during training camp, striving for a balance that will not create undue stress on the foot.

Simmons sat out his second straight exhibition game Tuesday night, but he was back on the Cousins Center court Wednesday morning, staying long after practice to work with coaches Tony Brown and Jarinn Akana.

Mo Williams Feels Pain In Shoulder

Oct 12, 2007 5:31 AM

Mo Williams took a knock on his left shoulder in the exhibition opener Tuesday, but the Milwaukee Bucks point guard wasn't too concerned.

Still, he sat out the game Wednesday at Utah as a precautionary measure, before returning to the practice floor Thursday at the Cousins Center.

"I'm just being cautious with it," said Williams, who injured the same shoulder in a collision with Denver Nuggets forward Linas Kleiza last January. "The regular season is when it counts."

Williams felt a few twinges of pain when he bumped into Chicago's Viktor Khryapa in the first half on Tuesday in La Crosse. Williams returned briefly in the third quarter before sitting out the rest of the game.

Yi Struggles In Debut

Oct 10, 2007 12:19 PM

Yi Jianlian struggled in his debut with Milwaukee, fouling out after 16 minutes and scoring three points in the Bucks' 93-88 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.

The sixth overall pick in the draft couldn't handle the energetic Joakim Noah, who scored six points with four rebounds and four assists in 23 minutes.

"The rules of FIBA and the rules of NBA are different. It takes time for me to deal with this through more training," Yi said.

There's been a circus atmosphere around Yi since he arrived to a throng of fans in Chicago last week. General manager Larry Harris said he's been astonished by the reaction so far.

"One of the things we talked about going into camp before Yi coming here was that the magnitude of this excitement and the intrigue of the player, you can't really understand it until you go through it," Harris said. "Our players are adjusting to it well, and they've been very supportive. I think even Yi's amazed."

Bucks' Coach Says Yi's Playing Time Isn't Guaranteed

Oct 5, 2007 6:05 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have not given first-round pick Yi Jianlian any guarantees of playing time, coach Larry Krystkowiak said Friday.

"It would be unfair to Yi, unfair to Charlie Villanueva, unfair to a lot of people because nothing is being handed to anyone coming into training camp," Krystkowiak said during the Bucks' annual media day. "I think what happened was that after he was signed, there was such pressure that he wouldn't play here after the draft, that a certain amount of face had to be saved."

Bucks general manager Larry Harris, who took part in the negotiations with Yi and his representatives from China in August, confirmed there "were no commitment or promises made about minutes."

Yi Practices With Milwaukee For First Time, Dodges Age Question

Oct 4, 2007 3:17 PM

Yi Jianlian, Milwaukee's top draft pick, declined to answer whether he was actually 19 or 22 years old on Thursday, again dodging a question that's hounded him since announcing he was coming to the NBA.

Yi's birth certificate lists him as being born Oct. 27, 1987, but he's long been rumored older. About 50 reporters -- including a contingent of Chinese media -- spoke with Yi (EE') for the first time since he joined the Bucks.
