Bogut Donates $19K To Help Keep Australian League Afloat

Dec 12, 2008 9:41 PM

Bucks' center Andrew Bogut has donated $19,800 to help keep the Australian basketball league in business.

Bogut paid 30,000 Australian dollars to a bank account set up to help pay the staff and players in the Sydney Spirit franchise of the NBL.

"We have been approached by quite a number of fans and businesses wishing to provide direct financial assistance for the Spirit players and coaching staff after their sad story became public recently," interim NBL chief executive Scott Derwin said.

"The league has agreed to act as the primary signatory to this account to ensure there are safeguards in place that will see all proceeds go directly to the Sydney Spirit players and staff."
