Carter Takes Shoulder To Head

Dec 31, 2009 7:22 AM

Vince Carter took a shoulder to the head during Orlando's 117-92 win over Milwaukee on Wednesday night.

Carter took the hit from Ersan Ilyasova. He hit the floor hard and rolled around on the floor as he winced in pain.

About three minutes after taking the hit, Carter got up.

"I felt real dizzy, so I wanted to just lay there for a second and let everything get back together," Carter said. "Next thing you know, everything was lined up correctly."

Carter never exited the game and ended up scoring 25 points at Amway Arena.

Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles made the announcement and said that Mbah a Moute would matchup against Vince Carter.

Carlos Delfino will come off the bench. He's made 27 starts this season.

"I really like the way he (Mbah a Moute) played the second half the other night," Skiles said after the team's morning shootaround. "We need his aggressiveness.

"Luc's got a tough matchup tonight with Vince."

Skiles Benches Bogut, Redd In Second Half

Dec 29, 2009 7:28 AM

Looking to jump start his team, Bucks coach Scott Skiles benched stars Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut for the entire second half on Monday night.

Milwaukee trailed Charlotte by 22 points at halftime and ended up losing 94-84.

"What do I need to say? We were 4-13 in our last 17 games, now 4-14 in our last 18," Skiles said. "Everybody has got to look at themselves right now."

Skiles thought about making lineup changes prior to the game, but opted to stick with his usual lineup. Bogut and Redd were a combined 1-for-10 in the first half and played lackluster defense.

"I was real surprised," said Brandon Jennings. "I thought once we got it down a little bit, we were going to bring them back in, you know Bogut and Redd and them."

Redd appeared to be motivated by the decision.

"I'm a competitor. Obviously I didn't like it," said Redd. "You know what I mean. But at the same time, support his decisions and keep moving. I'll be in the gym working hard [Tuesday]."

Bucks Could Give Meeks More Time

Dec 28, 2009 7:54 AM

The Bucks are struggling and coach Scott Skiles could give rookie guard Jodie Meeks a chance to earn time in the coming days.

"He's improved on the ball and off the ball," Skiles said of Meeks. "He's been a good rebounder and he's not afraid to go up in traffic.

"He's coming along, he really is. He seems a little more poised than he was earlier in the year. He's put in a lot of hard work and it's starting to pay off for him."

Skiles hinted that he'll switch up Milwaukee's starting lineup for Monday's game against the Bobcats, but it's not known if Meeks will make his first NBA start.

"The more time I get, the more confidence I get," Meeks said. "I'm a rookie, so everything is new. Coach Skiles gave me an opportunity, so I tried to make the best of it.

"Whenever my number is called, I'll be ready."

Jennings Calls 55 Points 'A Curse'

Dec 28, 2009 7:51 AM

Bucks rookie guard Brandon Jennings has been expected to explode every night in the wake of his 55-point performance against the Warriors last month.

"I feel like it's a curse because of the 55," Jennings said Sunday. "It's almost a curse.

"Now that I've scored 55, everybody expects me to go out there and score big numbers every night. I'm just trying to find my way. Not every night is going to be easy. A lot of teams are changing their defense. So it's not as easy as everyone thinks it is."

Jennings is averaging 19.3 points per game and has seen his numbers decline in December. After posting 22.1 points per contest in November, he's averaging 15.8 points on 36.5% shooting this month.

Redd Will Try Return Again On Saturday

Dec 12, 2009 10:43 AM

Bucks guard Michael Redd will come off the bench during Saturday's game against the Trail Blazers.

He went through a full practice with his teammates on Friday.

"I went through a couple practices," Redd said. "I had a lot more time to train and work on my leg, get it stronger.

"I'm not thinking about it (being idle so long). I'm just going to go play basketball and try to help this team win. I'm not going to worry about the timing. Just go play."

He suffered a left patella tendon strain on Oct. 31 and returned in late November, but went back on the inactive list and has missed Milwaukee's last seven games.

"In the last 60 Bucks games or whatever it is, he hasn't played in many of them," coach Scott Skiles said, referring to the anterior cruciate ligament surgery that kept Redd out for the final 35 games last season. "We'll bring him off the bench and see how it goes."

Walsh Cites Lack Of Scouting Resources For Passing On Jennings

Dec 10, 2009 6:48 AM

Brandon Jennings might have been a Knick if Donnie Walsh could do it all over again.

Walsh met with his scouting staff on Wednesday and one Knick official said, "I'm pretty sure the name Brandon Jennings will come up."

Recently, Walsh explained the decision to pass on Jennings by saying that he "couldn't get a feel for his game" even though one of his scouts thought the point guard was a "very good" player.  "I said, 'If he's that good, you should come in my door every five minutes and tell me.'"

Walsh has not been able to completely revamp the Knicks' scouting personnel by replacing holdovers from the Isiah Thomas era.

"I could have hired some amazing people," Walsh told SI.com. "But there are some things you can't ask the owner to do, and that's eat some of these [payroll] numbers."
