Stackhouse May Join Team At Midseason Again

Mar 26, 2010 6:10 PM

Jerry Stackhouse is thinking about signing on with a team at midseason again next year, just like he did with the Bucks this season.

Stackhouse is averaging 8.1 points for Milwaukee, which is 23-8 since he first played on Jan. 20.

"I might just try to do the same route I did this year," said Stackhouse. "Just kind of catch on, hook on (midway through next season) to rest the legs a little bit longer."

Stackhouse signed on with the Bucks after they lost Michael Redd for the season to injury. He previously hadn't been offered a guaranteed contract by an NBA team.

"I don't know if it works with every team," Stackhouse added. "But it would be able to work with some teams. I could provide a spark for a team. It could work for guys as they continue to get older. Is playing all of an 82-game season really worthwhile, with what your body needs and with training camp and the pounding? I think I feel like I still can do it. But I've got to be realistic as I wind down my career."

Salmons Wants To Stick With Bucks

Mar 26, 2010 6:24 AM

John Salmons has helped lead the Bucks into playoff contention and with his future uncertain, he said Thursday that he would like to stay in Milwaukee.

"Oh, yeah. Definitely, definitely. Great team, great organization. I enjoy being here," he said.

Salmons can opt out of the $5.8 million option in his contract for the 2010-11 season. He's averaging nearly 20 points per game for Milwaukee and his value has surged since arriving from Chicago in February.

The Bucks have until June 30 to work an extension with Salmons. After that, he'd hit the open market.

Bucks Claim Darnell Jackson Off Waivers

Mar 25, 2010 6:49 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have been awarded the contract of forward Darnell Jackson (6-9, 253) on a waiver claim, General Manager John Hammond announced today.  Since Jackson was waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 23, after the March 1 waiver deadline for playoff eligibility, he will not participate in the 2010 postseason.

Jackson, 24, was originally selected out of Kansas by the Miami Heat in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, before being traded to Cleveland for a 2009 second round draft pick.

Bogut: Coach Of The Year Race Down To Skiles, Brooks

Mar 24, 2010 6:20 AM

Bucks center Andrew Bogut believes that the top candidates for the NBA's Coach of the Year award are Milwaukee's Scott Skiles and Oklahoma City's Scott Brooks.

"Any time you've got a team that is picked last in their conference by every so-called expert, and with what he's got out of our team with no all-stars, I think he's definitely the coach of the year, not being biased," Bogut said of Skiles.

"To be fair, I think it's down to Brooks and Skiles for coach of the year. I don't see anybody else really contending for that. When you compare rosters, they're probably the two best coaches."

Salmons Paying Dividends For Bucks

Mar 22, 2010 6:20 AM

Since acquiring John Salmons from the Bulls last month, the Bucks have surged to a 14-2 record and jumped to the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Salmons has a $5.8 million player option for next season, but the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel points out that he may opt to hit the free-agent market.

The Bucks certainly want him back.

"When we were talking about making a move, we looked at him, and still do, as just a good, all-around pro guard," coach Scott Skiles said. "He can post up a little bit. He shoots the ball well enough. He can put it on the floor and get to the rim. He can dish it if necessary. He's a solid defender.

"He's a professional and has a real calm demeanor out there, and that has helped our guys."

Bucks Have 'Major Concerns' About Bogut Playing In Worlds

Mar 18, 2010 6:13 AM

Bucks general manager John Hammond said Wednesday that the team has "major concerns" about center Andrew Bogut representing Australia in the World Championships this summer.

Bogut is under pressure from his home country to play, but Milwaukee is concerned about his health and the recent five-year, $60 million investment they made in him.

"We are going to support Andrew as he goes through this process," Hammond said Wednesday night. "But we do have concerns.

"We've made a long-term commitment to Andrew and obviously he's made a commitment back to us. We appreciate what he's done for us at this point in his career and think he's only going to get better and better.

"We want to continue to monitor his back and make sure he stays healthy."

Baron Thinks Jennings Should Be ROY

Mar 17, 2010 6:12 AM

Clippers point guard Baron Davis believes that Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings should be the NBA's Rookie of the Year this season.

"I think Brandon should be the rookie of the year because it's all about winning in this league," Davis said Tuesday. "He's been winning, and he's been doing a good job of leading his team.

"He's had the numbers and all the accolades. He's definitely the point guard of the future in this league."

Jennings led the race early in the season after scoring 55 points in just his seventh NBA game against the Warriors. However, many feel he has since been passed by Sacramento's Tyreke Evans and Golden State's Stephen Curry.

"I've been watching him since before he went to high school," Davis said. "He's always had that focus and that confidence. It's great to see your little brother grow up and be doing it. He's like a little brother to me. I just have a lot of respect for his game.

"I always knew he was going to make it, and at the level he's performing, I'm not surprised.
