Drew: Bucks Not Trying To Tank

Mar 31, 2014 12:17 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks (14-59) are ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers (16-57) for the worst record in the NBA and the most lottery balls to receive the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft.

Larry Drew discussed his approach to try to win despite an injury-depleted lineup down the stretch, without Larry Sanders, Ersan Ilyasova, O.J. Mayo, Nate Wolters and Carlos Delfino.

"With all sincerity, I don't (react to that)," Drew said. "I go out and coach these games to try to win. I don't look at where we are or what our season is about right now. My job is to get these gentlemen ready to play every single night and to play hard. Given what our situation is, it's easy to play the season out.

"But we're not going to do that. We're going to try to step out on the floor and be competitive the whole time we're out there. Wherever we end up, that's where we end up. But we are not under any circumstance going to go out there and fold the tent.

"I know people are looking at the future, as far as the draft is concerned. They've already got their eyes pinpointed on players of the future. And that's normal. I don't fault them at all for that. But I just let it be known I don't pay too much attention to that. I just go out and try to coach this team, and wherever we end up, that's where we are."

Ersan Ilyasova Out For Remainder Of Season To Rehab Ankle

Mar 27, 2014 2:15 PM

Ersan Ilyasova will begin rehabilitation on his right ankle and is not expected to play for the remainder of the season, the Milwaukee Bucks announced Thursday.

Ilyasova underwent an examination on Tuesday and received a recommendation that he should immediately rest and rehab for a period of time instead of having surgery.

Ilyasova has averaged 11.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 26.9 minutes a game in 55 games this season.

Ersan had his right ankle examined by foot and ankle specialist Dr. Richard Ferkel in Los Angeles on Tuesday (March 25). Dr. Ferkel’s recommendation was a period of rest and rehabilitation beginning immediately, rather than surgery. Based on this medical recommendation, Ersan is not expected to play the remainder of the 2013-14 season.”

Larry Sanders Done For Season, Hopes To Add Weight In Offseason

Mar 19, 2014 3:43 PM

Larry Sanders confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the season due to eye surgery.

Sanders averaged 7.7 points and 7.2 rebounds this season and will begin a four-year contract extension next season.

Sanders anticipates a strong offseason in which he hopes to increase his strength to prepare against frontcourt players he will face.

"I want to put on a lot of weight," Sanders said. "At least 15 pounds. I want to get to 240, 245, a good running weight. I want to be really strong. I want to feel unmoveable out there.

"I just see it being the hardest working summer since back when I was in college, maybe when I was going out for the draft (in 2010). That will be the only one I could probably compare to this one."

Mar 17, 2014 8:10 PM

The Toronto Raptors "tried frantically" to acquire a top-15 pick in last June's draft in order to select Giannis Antetokounmpo.

John Hammond had decided 72 hours before the draft that the Milwaukee Bucks would select Antetokounmpo if he fell to them at No. 15.

Many NBA executives believed that Antetokounmpo received a promise from the Atlanta Hawks with the 17th overall pick.
