Nuggets Were Close To Trade With Suns For Eric Bledsoe

Nov 16, 2017 8:41 AM

The Denver Nuggets were close to a trade with the Phoenix Suns for Eric Bledsoe.

The deal would have included Emmanuel Mudiay and a first round pick, but talks ultimately collapsed.

Phoenix traded Bledsoe to the Milwaukee Bucks for protected first round pick and second round picks, along with Greg Monroe.

"We chase every opportunity to improve ourselves," Tim Connelly said. "We've had a lot of excellent players offered to us for our young talent. There's a fine line between overvaluing your own players and being too aggressive chasing short-term results."

Jon Horst: Eric Bledsoe Has Bucks' DNA

Nov 8, 2017 10:19 AM

Jon Horst explained why the Milwaukee Bucks decided to trade for Eric Bledsoe this week.

"I think this was the right deal because we were able to add someone that’s dynamic, another dynamic player that can score the ball, that can play-make for others, that has defensive toughness, athleticism and strength," said Horst. "And we were able to do that with effectively giving up one of the pieces of our core, as we’ve talked about publicly. Also, the Bucks DNA thing we’ve talked about is real. He is a high-character guy, highly talented, he has positional versatility, he can play on the ball and off the ball and he’s got great toughness.”

Horst was asked if he was concerned about how Bledsoe's tenure with the Suns ended.

“No, because with everything we do we do our due diligence. In surveying the league and getting that information, to a person everyone thinks very highly of Eric. I think in this business sometimes the business aspect of it takes over. … I think he was in a tough situation. We had a franchise that was trying to go in one direction, a player that wanted to be competitive in a different direction and those two things pulled at each other and it kind of resulted in what we all saw. That was of very little consideration for us, really all through this.”

Bucks Acquire Eric Bledsoe From Suns

Nov 8, 2017 8:40 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns have agreed upon a trade of Eric Bledsoe for Greg Monroe and a first round pick and a second round pick.

The Bucks' first round pick will be conveyed to Phoenix if it falls between 11 and 16, 4-16 in 2019, 8-30 in 2020 before it becomes unprotected altogether in 2021. The Suns will also receive a second round pick in 2018 if it falls between picks 48 and 60. If the pick is not conveyed in 2018, it is extinguished

Bledsoe was sent home by the Suns at the end of the first week of the season while they searched for a trade partner. Bledsoe previously had met with Suns owner Robert Sarver and McDonough during the preseason and requested a trade.

Bledsoe has two seasons and $29 million remaining on his five-year, $70 million contract.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Believes Playing In Small Market Has Helped Career

Nov 3, 2017 4:18 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo believes playing in one of the NBA's smaller markets has helped him become a better player.

“I’m a low-profile guy,” Antetokounmpo said. “I don’t like all these flashy cities like L.A. or Miami. I don’t know if I could be the same player if I played in those cities.”

Antetokounmpo can become a free agent in 2021 when his four-year, $100 million extension expires.

“I got loyalty inside my DNA,” wrote Antetokounmpo on Twitter in July.

Antetokounmpo father, Charles Antetokounmpo, passed away in September at the age of 54. Antetokounmpo has been leaning even further on his adopted hometown of Milwaukee since.

“I can feel the love from the city every day I step on the floor,” Giannis Antetokounmpo said. “For me, what I’m going through now, I appreciate it even more.”

“I really don’t see Giannis going anywhere,” Michael Redd said. “Even in the future.

“With what he’s doing on the court, it’s going to automatically draw people to come play with him. I know people have that stigma about Milwaukee. But it won’t be hard for him to attract talent here. I just want a ring when they get a ring.”

Antetokounmpo will help the Bucks open their new arena.

“There’s a lot of things you can do in Milwaukee, too,” Antetokounmpo said proudly.

Bucks Decline 18-19 Option On Rashad Vaughn

Nov 1, 2017 10:37 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks declined their fourth-year option on Rashad Vaughn.

Vaughn was the Bucks' first round pick in 2015.

Vaughn's slotted salary for 2018-'19 would have been $2.9 million. The Bucks are facing luxury tax concerns and could sign a cheaper player for Vaughn's roster spot.
