Giannis Antetokounmpo Fully Expects Bucks To Re-Sign Jabari Parker

Apr 30, 2018 12:21 PM

The restricted free agency of Jabari Parker will be one of the Bucks' most critical decisions this offseason. The Bucks must also hire a permanent head coach.

Parker's status with the Bucks has been uncertain as his playing time varied after coming back from his second torn ACL.

“Jabari ain’t going nowhere,” Antetokounmpo said with a smile. “He’s going to be here and he’s going to be ready for the next season.”

The fit of Parker with Antetokounmpo has been award at times, but Parker is unquestionably a gifted scorer.

Bucks Trying To Market 'The Giannis Effect' Worldwide

Apr 23, 2018 2:10 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo would like to spend his entire career with the Milwaukee Bucks.

"Definitely. That's one of my goals," Antetokounmpo told ESPN recently. "Kobe [Bryant] did it. Tim Duncan did it. Dirk Nowitzki did it. I just want to be one of those guys ... that stays for the city, play for the city for 20 years."

The Bucks are placing Antetokounmpo centrally in all of their plans.

"We know this is the unicorn," team president Peter Feigin said.

"What we call 'The Giannis Effect' really kind of took place 18 months ago, maybe two years ago, where you had this guy who had a skill set that was unlike anything ever," Feigin said. "Now it's really kind of grasping it and leveraging it and marketing it [in] a big, strong way, and marketing it to the world, which is different because he's really attractive to the world."

Antetokounmpo signed a four-year, $100 million extension in 2016 and that is up in 2021, though he will likely be eligible for a supermax extension before then.

"I can see the love from people in Milwaukee," Antetokounmpo said. "I can see that the city wants me to be there for a long time. Some days I get the tweets -- there was a guy that said I posted a tweet that I've got loyalty in my DNA a couple months ago, so he said he looks at this tweet and he can sleep better at night. So that's funny, man. But as I said, it's just fun. I know people want me to be part of their organization, and Milwaukee wants me to be here, play for Milwaukee the rest of my career."

Aaron Rodgers Purchases Minority Stake In Bucks

Apr 21, 2018 2:32 PM

Aaron Rodgers has purchased a minority stake in the Milwaukee Bucks.

Rodgers was introduced during the game, where he was seated courtside with girlfriend Danica Patrick and Bucks co-owner Wes Edens.

"I have proudly called Wisconsin my home for the past 13 years, and I am thankful for the friendships and the opportunities I have been given to live and play here," Rodgers said in a statement released by the Bucks. "I am excited and honored to deepen my connection to the region by joining Wes Edens, Marc Lasry, Jamie Dinan, Mike Fascitelli and the ownership group of the Milwaukee Bucks. As a huge fan of the NBA and the sport of basketball, this is a dream come true for me, and I look forward to furthering my affinity for Wisconsin sports as a minority owner in a team I love and support."

Rodgers is the first active NFL player to own a piece of a major sports franchise in the market in which he plays.

Jabari Parker 'Uncertain' About Future With Bucks

Apr 3, 2018 5:24 PM

Jabari Parker will be one of the NBA's most interesting restricted free agents in recent memory this offseason.

Parker has suffered two torn ACLs and the Milwaukee Bucks have since become more and more Giannis Antetokounmpo's franchise.

“Honestly, it’s uncertain,” Parker said after a recent practice, in regards to his future in Milwaukee and his restricted free agency this summer. “I know that, just looking from afar, [the Bucks] will be fine.

“But I just have to see what’s going to happen with my future, and that’s uncertain. But I know for them, they’ll be fine regardless. They’ve been doing well.”

Parker seems to acknowledge that his future could be elsewhere.

“You just have to be prepared,” he said. “Prepare for the worst.

“Anything can happen. I’ve seen it happen a lot of times. So I just would like to keep that mentality because you never want to be comfortable in this business.”

Parker could command a four-year, $80 million-plus deal from a rival team.
