Wesley Matthews, Bucks Agree To One-Year Deal

Wesley Matthews has agreed to a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks. 

The Bucks didn't sign Matthews until December of last season after he spent the 20-21 season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Matthews finished the season starting for the Bucks.

Bobby Portis and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a four-year, $49 million deal.

Portis will hold a player option in Year 4. The contract represents the most Portis could sign with the Bucks. 

Portis averaged 14.6 points and 9.1 rebounds last season with the Bucks. 

Portis is represented by Mark Bartelstein and Kieran Piller.

Bobby Portis Declines $4.7M Player Option With Bucks

Bobby Portis has declined his $4.7 million player option with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2022-23 season. Portis will now be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Portis is still expected to re-sign with Milwaukee. Using his Early Bird rights, the Bucks can re-sign Portis to a four-year deal with $49 million.

Portis has become a fan favorite in Milwaukee. He was a big part of the Bucks winning the 2021 NBA Finals, and was a regular starter last season while Brook Lopez rehabbed from back surgery.

The Nuggets' interest in Micic is reportedly driven by Nikola Jokic, with the Spurs, Bucks, and Bulls also linked with the player.

The Nuggets are also said to be receiving trade interest for current point guard Monte Morris.

The Thunder currently hold the 28-year-old's rights.

Connaughton was widely expected to test free agency following another strong season with the Bucks. Connaughton will be eligible for a contract extension this offseason.

Connaughton re-signed with the Bucks on a three-year, $16 million contract during the 2020 season.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo Exercises 22-23 Player Option

Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo has reportedly exercised his player option for the 2022-23 season. Antetokounmpo will be on the Bucks books for $1.9 million for next season.

Antetokounmpo joined his brother Giannis in Milwaukee before the 2019-20 season. He's highly regarded as a positive locker room presence for the Bucks, and occasional contributor in the team's wing rotation.

Last season, Antetokounmpo averaged 9.9 minutes over 48 games (six starts). He averaged 3.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest.

Jon Horst said that Grayson Allen underwent a "little procedure" on his left ring finger due to an injury that was bothering the 26-year-old during the season.

"A lot of times, guys do maintenance-type stuff, routine stuff in the offseason to kind of get ready," said Horst. "It was good for him to kind of approach it in the offseason. It'll be fine."

Allen averaged 11.1 points and 3.4 rebounds last season with the Bucks.

Horst added that Khris Middleton is continuing to "ramp up" his on-court work after hurting his knee in the playoffs. 

"[He] looks great, really starting to ramp up his court work and his lifting and everything. He's fine."

Point guard Vasilije Micic is reportedly drawing trade interest from several playoff teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls, sources told Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

The 28-year-old's rights are currently held by the Thunder.

Micic lead Anadolu Efes to a EuroLeague title in the 2020-21 season, and was named the EuroLeague MVP.

Micic was originally drafted in the second round by the Sixers in 2014.
