Execs 'Laughing' Over Wolves Attempt To Get More From Blazers

Oct 29, 2010 8:05 AM

The Timberwolves are investigating whether Martell Webster was significantly injured when they acquired him from the Trail Blazers this offseason.

Portland dealt Webster to Minnesota for the 16th overall pick in June's NBA Draft.

Webster on Monday underwent surgery to repair a disk in his back and is expected to miss about six weeks. He said the injury dates back to last postseason.

The Timberwolves are believed to be trying to get extra compensation in the trade, reportedly a draft pick.

"We're all laughing about it," says one front office executive. "You can't watch the freaking playoffs? That was a pretty obvious incident, right on national TV."

Rambis, Love On Same Page Regarding Minutes

Oct 29, 2010 7:55 AM

Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis and Kevin Love have spoken about the forward's playing time and they are on the same page.

The young forward played just nine minutes in the second half against Sacramento on Wednesday night. He finished with 24 total minutes.

Love complained about his role last season and left the locker room Wednesday without speaking to the media.

After practice Thursday Love said he and Rambis are fine and that any speculation about a rift has been blown out of proportion.

Rambis said he spoke to Love in the morning to make clear he had no "hidden agenda" or "loss of faith" in Love.

The Wolves have asked the NBA to investigate whether Portland knew the seriousness of Martell Webster's injury before they traded him on draft night.
