Anthony Edwards signed a sneaker endorsement deal with Adidas, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The 19-year-old Edwards is averaging 16.5 points and 2.5 rebounds over his first two games as a rookie. 

Karl-Anthony Towns dislocated his left wrist and will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Towns will not require surgery.

The Wolves are optimistic that this will be a "short-term" absence, added Wojnarowski. 

The Minnesota Timberwolves pursued a trade for Aaron Gordon this offseason, league sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.

The Wolves are thin at power forward with Juan Hernangomez and Jake Layman on the depth chart. Minnesota, however, is deep on the perimeter with D'Angelo Russell, Ricky Rubio, Anthony Edwards, Jarrett Culver, Josh Okogie and Malik Beasley.

Gordon has two seasons remaining on his contract at $18.1 million and down to $16.4 million in 21-22. Gordon's long-term future with the Orlando Magic has been uncertain due to Jonathan Isaac.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to waive Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, sources told Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Hollis-Jefferson signed with the Wolves in early December. 

Ryan Smith was "really close" to making a bid for the Minnesota Timberwolves before he eventually purchased the Utah Jazz and their arena for $1.66 billion.

Smith was seriously considering taking the next step until his wife, Ashley, voiced her objection.

"With my wife, something wasn't right. She was putting her foot down," Smith told ESPN. "She was like, 'You know we're Jazz fans, right? That's what we do, and I'm not moving.' She doesn't put her foot down very often, but it was a nice reminder that I was kind of getting caught up in this other world because I liked the business side of it."

Smith approached Gail Miller, who initially rebuffed the interest before reengaging over the summer.

"Ryan Smith is a forward-thinking, community-minded entrepreneur and business leader who will be a fantastic addition to our league," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. "As a lifelong fan of the Utah Jazz and more recently as one of their key marketing partners, Ryan has demonstrated his deep commitment to the Jazz and the Utah community, and there's no doubt he will bring that same level of dedication to the operation of the team."

Jordan McLaughlin has agreed to sign his Two-Way qualifying offer with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

McLaughlin will return to the market in 2021 as a free agent instead of signing a multi-year deal.

McLaughlin averaged 7.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 19.7 minutes per game last season with the Wolves. McLaugluin also averaged 16.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 31.4 minutes over 23 games in the G League.

Rudy Tomjanovich is set to join the Minnesota Timberwolves as a player personnel consultant.

Tomjanovich was elected into the Hall of Fame in 2020.
