Karl-Anthony Towns and Jayson Tatum have been named the NBA's Players of the Week for Week 22.

Towns averaged 38.3 points and 12.0 rebounds per game as the Minnesota Timberwolves went 3-0.

Tatum averaged 29.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists as the Boston Celtics went 3-0.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have clinched at least a .500 record. That's the first time the Wolves have been at that mark since 2017-18. One more win, and Minnesota will have only their second winning record since 2004-05.

The Timberwolves play has Karl-Anthony Towns and his teammates brimming with confidence.

"Any time we step on the court, we should win... We feel we can beat anybody," Towns said.

Towns also said he thinks this is the best he's played as an individual in his career. But the franchise center was quick to credit the Wolves improved defense for the turnaround.

"I just think (head coach Chris) Finch is doing a great job of utilizing everyone’s strengths and what they’re really good at," Towns said. "And things that they’re probably not the best at, we do a great job of hiding them."

An MRI taken on Tuesday at Mayo Clinic Square by Dr. Kelechi Okoroha on Jaden McDaniels revealed a left ankle sprain.

McDaniels will be sidelined indefinitely and reassessed in two weeks. Further updates to his progress will be issued when available.

In 67 games (31 starts) this season, McDaniels is averaging 9.4 points on 45.9% shooting, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists. 

Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns scored a franchise-record 60 points on Monday night. Towns feat came as Minnesota defeated the San Antonio Spurs 149-139. Towns' 60 points are also the season-high for any player in a game this NBA season.

Towns shot 19-of-31 from the field, including 7-of-11 from behind the arc. He also hit 15-of-16 free throws on his historic night.

In addition to the 60 points, Towns added 17 rebounds and three assists. The win pushed the Wolves to within a game-and-a-half of the Denver Nuggets for the sixth seed in the Western Conference. That's the final assured playoff spot, with the 7-10 seeds being a part of the Play-In Tournament.

Minnesota Timberwolves wing Malik Beasley was fined $35,000 for making unnecessary and inappropriate contact with Drew Eubanks of the Portland Trail Blazers. The incident took place midway through the third quarter of Friday's game.

Beasley was given a technical foul and ejected from the game.
