Gayle Benson Would 'Never' Sell Pelicans, Saints

Mar 26, 2018 6:06 PM

Gayle Benson said she would "never" sell either the New Orleans Pelicans or New Orleans Saints.

Benson has taken over as the owner of both franchises following the death of Tom Benson on March 15th.

"I don't think there's any other choice," Benson said at the league's owners meetings. "I think that's the only thing that you could do is to keep his legacy alive. Where else would you go? I'm from New Orleans. My husband was from New Orleans. We're just like one big family over there."

Benson was asked if it's upsetting to read or hear reports of her possibly selling and/or moving the teams.

"It's disappointing to think that somebody would think I would mess up his legacy. But I guess everyone has their opinion.

"I would never sell it. No."

Alvin Gentry Fined $15,000 By NBA For Comments Of Officiating

Mar 18, 2018 8:30 PM

Alvin Gentry has been fined $15,000 for public criticism of the officiating.

Gentry made his comments to the media following the Pelicans’ 107-101 loss to the Houston Rockets on March 17 at Smoothie King Center.

"The thing that bothers me more than anything, and I really don't care, we try to play the right way, and we play our asses off," Gentry said after the game.

"All we want is an equal opportunity to win the game, not have a situation where we are guessing on the biggest play of the game, where they call a 3-point foul from the corner. All of you take a look at the play, and if you think that's a foul, if anybody out here thinks it's a foul, then you tell me, and I'll shut up, and I won't say one more thing. You take a look at the play and tell me what you think when a guy comes up and winks and says, 'I got him.'"

Anthony Davis Injures Ankle, Leaving 2nd Straight Game Early

Mar 8, 2018 10:38 AM

Anthony Davis injured his ankle, leaving Wednesday's game in the third quarter. Davis left the Pelicans' previous with a rib injury.

The Pelicans announced that X-rays taken were negative.

"Won't know anything until tomorrow," Alvin Gentry said. "They took X-rays but couldn't really tell a lot from the X-rays, so we'll go back home, and I'm sure he'll have an MRI at some stage tomorrow, and we'll have more information."

"I feel fine, but they'll have the team doctor look at it tomorrow and go from there," Davis said. "Any time you twist an ankle it hurts, especially coming off somebody's foot, because you really don't have any protection. It was sore. I just wanted to make sure everything was fine."
