Stephon Marbury will be inactive for Friday's game between the Knicks and Sixers in Philadelphia and Mike D'Antoni says that Marbury will remain inactive for the foreseeable future.

"Either he has a big part of the pie or none and [Wednesday] night was none," Mike D'Antoni said. "And he felt it was tough just sitting there like that. So if we were going to go for that decision, then we decided that it would be probably better that he doesn?t dress. Otherwise, it's hard for him to sit there. I understood that."

"I?m not frusturated at all," Marbury said. "I have no control over it. If it was raining outside, I can't get mad if it?s raining. I?ve got to go get an umbrella and then walk in the rain. I have no control over the situation. The coach makes the decision on who plays and who?s not going to play and obviously, right now he feels like I?m not one of the guys that?s going to be playing."

Speaking about whether he felt he had played his last game in a Knick uniform, Marbury said, "I didn't go that far. I?m not there. I?m not in that place."

"I want to stress, he?s been great," D'Antoni said. "He did everything we asked, he came ready. So it?s really just two things collided and I just couldn?t make this fit. I want to be respectful to him and everything, he?s been in the league a long time. This is the best thing I can come up with."

Anthony Roberson will be activated for Friday's game.

The Knicks had serious discussions with the Warriors about a trade involving Eddy Curry and Al Harrington, but talks ended when Golden State insisted that they receive David Lee in the deal as well.

One of the options the New York Knicks are considering regarding point guard Stephon Marbury is asking him to stay away until either the team can trade him or there is a contract buyout, the New York Daily News is reporting.

A buyout at this point is unlikely.

The move of restricting him from being around the team would only happen if Marbury became a distraction, which has not happened to this point.  Publicly, Marbury has refused to criticize his reduced role and even said Thursday, "Whatever they want to do is fine with me."

Coach Mike D'Antoni did not play Marbury at all in the Knicks' season opener against Miami, but that does not mean that he will not see the court tonight in Philadelphia.  D'Antoni suggested not playing Marbury is a move towards developing for the future, which will not include the former All-Star.

"It's what is best for the Knicks and our future," D'Antoni said. "I have to do that."

The New York Daily News has obtained a copy of the incident report about the 911 call to Isiah Thomas' home last week.  

The report has revealed that Thomas was not breathing when police found him on his kitchen floor.

Harrison police administered oxygen to Thomas until an ambulance crew arrived. He was taken to White Plains Hospital Center for further medical attention.

Donnie Walsh told the media he supports Mike D'Antoni's coaching decisions, including the one to leave Stephon Marbury on the bench during Wednesday night's opener at the Garden.  The Knicks beat the Heat in their first game of the season.

"I deliver the roster," Walsh said. "It's up to him to play the guys he thinks he can win with."

"I've got to do what's best for the Knicks right now," D'Antoni said.

The team may continue to look for a way to move on without Marbury, but the process remains difficult.

"I wouldn't read the future," Walsh said. "We played one game."

In a potential swap of players who do not figure in their current teams' plans, the Knicks and Warriors have reportedly had discussions about a trade involving Eddy Curry and Al Harrington.

The Warriors are more interested in a package including David Lee.

The better offers for Harrington are coming from Western Conference clubs, but the Warriors would prefer to ship Harrington to the Eastern Conference.

Mike D'Antoni says that the New York Knicks now have standards and that Eddy Curry is not going to see the court while he does not meet them, but according to a report in the New York Daily News, Curry is not alone on the Knick bench.

Stephon Marbury, who is in shape, also did not get into the game against Miami on Wednesday night.

"This is not going to be easy where we're all having lollipops and thinking we can turn this around," D'Antoni said hours before the Knicks beat Miami, 120-115, in their season opener. "There are going to be a lot of tears, yelling, and screaming. There are going to be certain standards. It's easy for me to go, 'Yeah, OK let's just do it the same way it's always been done so no one will get mad.' Now, we have standards."

D'Antoni met with Curry yesterday morning, and afterwards Curry disputed the claim that he's not physically ready and said of their meeting, "I just listened to what he had to say, got up, and came to shoot-around. I feel like I am (ready), but he's the coach. And it's his team."

The regular season was back in full swing on Wednesday night with twenty-four teams taking the floor. Jermaine O'Neal made his debut for Toronto; the Knicks played for the first time under Mike D'Antoni; and Baron Davis battled with the Clippers against their roommates the Lakers in Los Angeles.

All that and much more took place on the second day of the 2008-09 regular season.

Toronto forced seventeen turnovers and limited the 76ers to just 34% shooting from the floor. The Magic led 4-2 early on Wednesday night but never led again as the Hawks cruised to a relatively easy roavictory. Joe Johnson had 25 points and 7 rebounds; Josh Smith added 17 points and 10 boards; and sophomore Al Horford tallied 10 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Atlanta outrebounded Orlando by eight despite Dwight Howard?s 22-point, 15-rebound performance. The Magic struggled from beyond the arc all night long, finishing the game 4-for-25 from downtown.

The Nets took care of the ball, turning it over just nine times, and limited Washington to 37% shooting. Caron Butler had 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss while Antawn Jamison struggled to score 14 points as he went 6-for-18 from the field.

The Knicks won in their first game under Mike D?Antoni, holding off the Heat despite a furious fourth quarter rally by the visiting team at Madison Square Garden. Jamal Crawford scored 29 points, and David Lee had 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists in the victory. Dwyane Wade excelled for the Heat, tallying 26 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds, but Miami dug themselves too deep of a hole heading into the final quarter. Udonis Haslem posted 23 points and 10 rebounds while rookie Michael Beasley had 9 points and 4 rebounds in twenty-seven minutes of play.

According to a report from ESPN News Services, officers who responded to the 911 call to Isiah Thomas' house found a man passed out on the floor and gave him oxygen until an ambulance arrived.

While Thomas claims the ambulance was for his 17-year-old daughter, a person familiar with the case has confirmed it was the former NBA star and Knicks' coach.

Harrison Police Chief David Hall continued to criticize Thomas for not acknowledging he was treated for the overdose and for saying it was teenage daughter Lauren, who had a medical issue.

"As parents, you try to protect your kids; you don't say they did something when it was you who did it," Hall said. "We know the difference between a 47-year-old man and a teenager."

Eddy Curry is not expected to be a part of Coach Mike D'Antoni's regular rotation when the Knicks begin their season against the Heat on Wednesday.

D'Antoni said he doesn't plan to play Curry in the team's season opener as part of his eight- or nine-man rotation.

When informed of the news Curry appeared shocked, claiming D'Antoni hadn't spoken to him about it.

"Definitely stunned, especially being that [D'Antoni] didn't tell me that," Curry said Tuesday. "I haven't talked to him. I'm here with him every day. All he has to do is tell me. I'm definitely stunned to hear that."
