The Knicks knocked off the Warriors, 138-125, on Saturday night thanks to a trio of record-setting performances.

Chris Duhon dished a team-record 22 assists; David Lee had 37 points and 21 rebounds (both career-highs); and New York scored a franchise-record 82 points in the first half.

"Chris Duhon did a great job of finding me on the pick-and-roll," Lee said. "And he found me about 18 or 20 times."

The Knicks also set a record for points in the second quarter with 43.

Walsh Hoping To End Marbury 'Distraction' Monday

Nov 30, 2008 6:13 AM

Donnie Walsh is hoping to put an end to the Stephon Marbury saga as soon as Monday, when the Knicks meet with the outcast guard to try to come to an agreement on a severance, the New York Post is reporting.

Walsh said he's "disappointed" in Marbury, called his situation a "distraction" and said he's aiming to reach a resolution when he meets with the embattled player and Players' Association attorney Hal Biagas tomorrow.

Asked if there would be finality tomorrow, Walsh said, "I can't predict that, but that's what I am hoping. That's what I'm going into the meeting for."

"It doesn't look good," Walsh added. "The situation has spiraled down. There'll be options out there. We've gone down a long road and have to direct ourselves to where we are. I think everyone came in with good intentions. It hasn't worked out. We have to acknowledge that."

Knick Assistants Have To Scrimmage

Nov 29, 2008 6:44 AM

Things have gotten so bad in New York in terms of available bodies that the Knicks had to scrimmage with the assistant coaches, the New York Post is reporting.

The team is down to just seven bodies following the Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph trades.

Assistants Phil Weber (North Carolina State), Kenny Atkinson (Richmond), Dan D'Antoni (Marshall) and Herb Williams (Ohio State) all competed, though most of the scrimmage was half-court. Mike D'Antoni has been suffering from a severe bad back and could not participate.

Crawford: Knicks Blew It

Nov 29, 2008 6:41 AM

Jamal Crawford returns to the Garden tonight as a member of the Golden State Warriors, and he believes that the Knicks' management blew it when it came to how to handle the Stephon Marbury situation, the New York Post is reporting.

"Honestly, everybody there thought it would be handled before the season started, one way or the other," Crawford told the San Francisco Chronicle. "And now it's continuing to go [on]. It needs to be resolved one way or the other, for sure. It wasn't really a distraction because we were winning, you know what I mean? We've had distractions in the past, so to us, that wasn't like a real distraction. Steph remained professional. He never blew up at the team."

LeBron Blasts 'Stupid' Barkley

Nov 29, 2008 12:41 AM

LeBron James has responded strongly to comments made by Charles Barkley that James is disrespecting the Cavaliers and their fans by discussing his free agency year in 2010, the Associated Press is reporting.

"He's stupid. That's all I've got to say about that," James said Friday night before the Cavaliers' game against Golden State.

Barkley made the comments on TNT's NBA studio show and Dan Patrick's radio show.

"If I was LeBron James, I would shut the hell up," the Hall of Famer said on Patrick's show. "I'm a big LeBron fan. He's a stud. You gotta give him his props. I'm getting so annoyed he's talking about what he's going to do in two years. I think it's disrespectful to the game. I think it's disrespectful to the Cavaliers."

Marbury Suspended

Nov 28, 2008 10:43 AM

For his apparent refusal to play in Detroit, the Knicks have suspended Stephon Marbury without pay.  Marbury has also been told to stay away from the team, at least until Monday.

"A player's central obligation is to provide his professional services when called upon," Donnie Walsh said in announcing the suspension. "Because [Marbury] refused the coach's request to play in the team's last game, we had no choice but to impose disciplinary action."

With Marbury sent home, the Knicks will try to determine the next course of action.  Further fines and suspensions are possible; the team could continue discussions on a buyout; or the Knicks may simply decide to tell Marbury to stay home, pay him his remaining salary, and keep him on the roster until he is traded or released.

"We feel the discipline imposed by the Knicks is baseless," said Hal Biagas of the National Basketball Players Association.  "We plan to file a grievance."

Marbury gave an extended interview with the New York Post.

"We need to separate from the relationship," he said. "The marriage is over. It's a done deal."

About Mike D'Antoni, Marbury said, "I wouldn't trust him to walk my dog across the street."

LeBron's Pal Claims Knicks Are Favorites

Nov 28, 2008 6:41 AM

A few of LeBron James' closest friends claim that the Knicks are the early favorites to sign the forward in the summer of 2010.

William Wesley is a close friend and adviser to James, and is regarded as a powerful insider among the NBA's top players and executives.

When asked during Wednesday's Knicks-Pistons game if he feels the Knicks are the favorite to sign LeBron, Wesley said: "Barack Obama could use Donnie Walsh to clear salary-cap space for the country."

Marbury Near The End In New York

Nov 28, 2008 12:25 AM

After refusing to play on two separate occasions, Stephon Marbury is close to his end as a Knick.

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News cites a team source in reporting that Marbury will either be ordered to stay home indefinitely or released.

The decision could come as early as this weekend.

"Something is going to happen," the source said. "This has got to end."

Mike D'Antoni did not have anything new to report and is clearly exasperated by the continuing questions on the subject.  "It's status quo.  It hasn't changed any from the last time. Again, I don't want to keep talking about it," D'Antoni said.

A source indicated to Isola that any buyout of Marbury's contract would not take place until after the new year.

"They're going to do what they're going to do," Marbury said. "That's what they've been doing."

Q-Rich On Marbury: ''He Isn't My Teammate''

Nov 27, 2008 6:01 AM

Stephon Marbury's refusal to play for Mike D'Antoni and the New York Knicks after the way he has been treated this season has been met with hostility by his 'teammates', the New York Post is reporting.

Quentin Richardson has been playing through injury because New York is down to the bare minimum of players, and he is furious with Marbury's actions.

"The way the situation is, I don't consider him my teammate," Richardson said. "He hasn't played with us all year. He doesn't want to play with us. This is the second time. I don't look at him as a teammate. Teammates don't do that, regardless what's going on with the coach. You don't do that to teammates. We were basically left out there."
