Jarrett Jack Willing To Consider Buyout With Knicks

Feb 27, 2018 12:41 PM

The New York Knicks have reduced the minutes of Jarrett Jack as the team pivots to developing their younger players.

Jack will consider a buyout before Thursday's deadline.

"I've never done it before to jump from one team in the middle of the season to a playoff squad. I know that's what other guys have done. To be honest, I don't really know," Jack said. "Maybe I do need to sit down and look at a list of what my best possible options are. But as of today I'm with the Knicks and want to help in any capacity I can."

Jack is on an expiring minimum deal.

"Obviously I'd like to be on the court but I think they're allowing some of these younger guys to get some opportunities to show where they're at amongst the other guys in this league and it's coach's decision," Jack said. "We were in Orlando (for a game last week) and he said we'll move in that direction. It's not for me to have an opinion on it."

NBPA Expected To Become More Involved In Joakim Noah Situation

Feb 27, 2018 8:35 AM

If Joakim Noah and the New York Knicks are unable to agree upon a buyout this week, sources say the Players Association will intensify its interest in his situation.

Noah has been away from the team indefinitely following his altercation with Jeff Hornacek during a practice in January. Hornacek reportedly first turned the altercation into a physical one.

The Knicks were unable to trade Noah at the deadline and could attempt to do so again this offseason.

Hornacek's future with the Knicks is also uncertain.

Earlier this month, the union released a statement to The Post, stating: “We are closely monitoring the situation to make sure Joakim Noah is treated fairly under the rules of our collective bargaining agreement.”

Warriors, Wolves, Thunder Interested In Joakim Noah If Bought Out

Feb 23, 2018 1:48 PM

If Joakim Noah agrees upon a buyout from the New York Knicks before the deadline to become playoff eligible, he is expected to receive interest from a number of contending teams.

The Warriors, Timberwolves and Thunder are believed to have interest in signing Noah.

Minnesota would give Noah the opportunity to reunite with Tom Thibodeau.

Noah remains away from the Knicks following a January altercation at practice with Jeff Hornacek. Hornacek pushed Noah and Noah pushed him back before the two were separated.

Noah hasn’t addressed his status publicly since leaving.

Noah signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Knicks in 2016 and he has two seasons remaining on the deal. It would benefit the Knicks to wait on parting ways with Noah unless he took a significant reduction off the contract.

Joakim Noah To Remain Away From Knicks Indefinitely

Feb 21, 2018 10:41 AM

Jeff Hornacek indicated that Joakim Noah won't return to the New York Knicks in the near future.

"We've moved on. He's ready to move on and maybe have an opportunity somewhere else," Hornacek said.

Noah will remain away from the Knicks indefinitely. Noah's return will be up to Steve Mills and Scott Perry.

The Knicks were unable to trade Noah at the trade deadline and have shown no desire to waive him.

Noah is not yet open to discussing a buyout with the Knicks.

"That's something that happened three weeks ago, four weeks ago. We handled that thing with Jo," he said. "It's not finalized because he's still on the roster. We've dealt with that situation. There's really nothing more to say about it."

Hornacek and Noah had to be physically separated during a practice in late January.

"Things happen in practice, happen in meetings, happen in all kind of stuff," he said. "We've dealt with that and that's the end of it from us."

The National Basketball Players Association has said that it is "closely monitoring" the situation between Noah and the Knicks to ensure the player "is treated fairly under the rules of our collective bargaining agreement."

Knicks To Prioritize Minutes For Young Point Guards After All-Star Break

Feb 15, 2018 11:43 AM

The New York Knicks will prioritize playing time to their young point guards over Jarrett Jack when they return from the All-Star break.

The Knicks have Frank Ntilikina, Emmanuel Mudiay and Trey Burke at point guard.

"It's probably all three of those young guys (playing more) — Frank, Emmanuel and Trey — and we'll slide a couple of them in the two spot a little bit," Jeff Hornacek said. "Whether it's Trey and Emmanuel or some combination of those guys — Emmanuel and Frank."

Jack was signed as a stopgap point guard.

"We don't want (Ntilikina) to always be off the ball, either," Hornacek said. "We want to play him on the ball. So that he continues to get that taste of the point guard position."

Knicks Interested In Hiring Pablo Prigioni As Developmental Coach

Feb 12, 2018 9:14 AM

The New York Knicks have interest in hiring Pablo Prigioni as a developmental coach.

Prigioni was also offered a job by the Knicks last summer but turned it down to become head coach of Baskonia in Spain. Prigioni lasted just three weeks in the job.

Prigioni is in New York this week after being invited by the Nets to spend a week with them. It is not clear if the Nets have interest in hiring Prigioni as a coach.

The Knicks are believed to be short on developmental coaches.

Grizzlies Rejected Emmanuel Mudiay, 2nd Round Pick From Nuggets For Tyreke Evans

Feb 9, 2018 10:23 AM

The Denver Nuggets attempted to trade for Tyreke Evans with the Memphis Grizzlies at the deadline and presented two offers.

Denver offered Memphis either Emmanuel Mudiay and a second round pick, or an expiring contract and multiple second round picks.

The Grizzlies wanted more in exchange for Evans and didn't want any salary for the 18-19 season. Mudiay was eventually traded to the New York Knicks.

Memphis failed to find a workable trade of Evans, who they signed to a one-year, $3.3 million contract.

The Washington Wizards also had interest in Evans and likely would have parted with two second round picks as well.
