Wilson Chandler, Courtney Lee, Kent Bazemore Available In Trade Talks

Jun 30, 2018 10:43 AM

Wilson Chandler, Courtney Lee and Kent Bazemore are three players who are available in trade talks this offseason.

The Denver Nuggets are attempting to cut salary to reduce their tax bill and Chandler is on an expiring contract.

Lee is a trade candidate as the New York Knicks also have Tim Hardaway Jr. at shooting guard and drafted Kevin Knox at small forward.

The Atlanta Hawks are on a multi-year rebuild and they've been trying to unload Bazemore.

MSG Considering Spinning Knicks, Rangers Into Separate Company

Jun 29, 2018 11:59 AM

Madison Square Garden may sell off the New York Knicks and New York Rangers by way of a tax-free distribution to shareholders.

MSG stock increased upon the announcement.

The Knicks are believed to be worth an estimated $3.6 billion.

"We believe this proposed transaction would provide each company with enhanced strategic flexibility, its own defined business focus and clear investment characteristics,” said James Dolan.

Dolan has interest in building MSG Sphere, which are planned entertainment venues in Las Vegas and London. Those venues could cost $1 billion each.

Dolan reportedly has increased his interest in the entertainment business while lessening his sports franchises.

Other notable publicly traded sports franchises are the premier league's Manchester United, controlled by the Glazer family, and the Green Bay Packers.

Enes Kanter Exercises $18.6M Player Option With Knicks

Jun 29, 2018 10:19 AM

Enes Kanter will exercise his $18.6 million player option to remain with the New York Knicks.

Kanter was traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Knicks as part of the Carmelo Anthony trade with his salary considered cap filler. But Kanter had a more productive season than many expected.

Kanter's decision was an obvious one as the center market in free agency is crowded.

Knicks Believe Relationship With Kristaps Porzingis Has Been Repaired

Jun 28, 2018 7:00 PM

Steve Mills believes the New York Knicks have repaired their relationship with Kristaps Porzingis.

During a Thursday interview on ESPN Radio's The Stephen A. Smith Show, Steve Mills said he and first-year general manager Scott Perry worked hard to repair the organization's relationship with Porzingis.

Porzingis is eligible for a five-year extension worth more than $150 million.

Mills was asked if he was concerned Porzingis might request a trade.

"No," Mills said. "We've worked really hard in rebuilding the relationship with KP. For Scott and me, it's been with his brother [Janis Porzingis]. We had to make Janis, who is his agent and his brother, make him feel like he was part of our group and let him understand what we're doing as a team, where we're taking this thing.

"We communicate with KP all the time," Mills added. "And we know he feels good about directionally where we're going. I think you can see that through some of his tweets and social media stuff, and our conversations with him. He's back on board with where we're going and we feel really good about his future with us."

Enes Kanter Expected To Receive Interest From Five Teams If He Becomes Free Agent

Jun 26, 2018 10:16 AM

Enes Kanter has yet to decide whether he will pick up his $18.6 million player option with the New York Knicks.

Several agents believe Kanter would be wise to pick up his option and re-enter the market next offseason when teams have more cap space.

But this year Kanter hired power agent Mark Bartelstein, who didn't negotiate his current deal.

Approximately five teams have emerged with interest in Kanter if he becomes a free agent.

“With Coach (David) Fizdale, I want to stay more,’’ Kanter told The Post in a phone interview Monday night. “I know his mentality, I know how much freedom he gives to his players. It’s going to help my decision for sure. I think he’s going to change a lot of things. He seems like a relationship with him is like a friendship relationship. It’s not a player-coach relationship. I talked to him for two hours and it gives you so much confidence.’’

Kanter says he would like to remain with the Knicks.

“I want to be with the Knicks, but I don’t know what’s going to happen on the last day,’’ Kanter said. “Teams are calling. I want to hear what the Knicks want to do first. If they say you’re free to walk away, I may just talk to other teams. But it’s Knicks first.”

Grizzlies Holding Trade Talks With Multiple Teams On No. 4 Pick

Jun 20, 2018 11:53 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies are holding trade talks with several teams concerning the No. 4 overall pick and Chandler Parsons.

Parsons' contract is considered an albatross due to his ongoing knee issues. Parsons is owed $49.2 million over the next two seasons.

The Grizzlies would like to trade back rather than trading out of the lottery altogether.

The Dallas Mavericks, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers have each showed varying degrees of interest in a deal.

The Grizzlies are high on Wendell Carter Jr., but he's currently projected to be a top-7 pick.
