Derrick Rose To Return Shortly After All-Star Break

Jan 30, 2022 4:05 PM

New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose has been out since mid-December, but his return seems to be getting close. While speaking with the media for the first time since he was shut down to have ankle surgery, Rose said he'd make his return very soon after next month's All-Star break.

The Knicks said Rose would miss approximately eight weeks after surgery. Is Rose returns in mid-February, his timeline will match that almost exactly.

Rose has averaged 12 points per game in the first year of a three-year, $43.5 million contract with New York. He's played mostly off the bench for the Knicks, but was inserted into the starting lineup shortly before getting injured.

Knicks Open To Trading Kemba Walker, Evan Fournier and Alec Burks

Jan 28, 2022 8:35 AM

The New York Knicks season hasn't gone as expected, as they currently sit on the outside of the Play-In tournament with an under .500 record. As such, New York is evaluating moving some of their veteran players in trades.

Speaking on NBA Today, Brian Windhorst said that the Knicks are open to moving "Kemba Walker, Evan Fournier, Alec Burks, guys this this."

New York has younger options behind each of the veteran players. This includes recent draftees Immanuel Quickley and Quentin Grimes, and recently acquired Cam Reddish. Upon acquiring Reddish, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau cautioned that it might be difficult to work Reddish into an already-crowded wing rotation.

Cam Reddish Ready To Make Knicks Debut

Jan 22, 2022 3:08 PM

Cam Reddish is poised to make his New York Knicks debut on Sunday. New York hosts the LA Clippers in a matinee matchup.

Reddish has been working his way back from an ankle injury suffered before the Atlanta Hawks traded him to the Knicks. New York acquired Reddish for Kevin Knox and a protected first-round pick the Knicks owned from the Charlotte Hornets.

Reddish agreed that he's ready to play. The third-year wing said, "That's the hope" when asked if he would play on Sunday. Reddish also confirmed Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau's assessment that he's healthy again.

Thibodeau did caution that even though Reddish his healthy, he may not see a lot of minutes right away. Thibodeau said, "We have a rotation, so he has to be patient and work his way through that."

Jan 18, 2022 11:22 AM

The Detroit Pistons have received interest in Jerami Grant from the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks, Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings.

The Pistons are seeking either two first round picks or one first round pick plus a high upside young player in exchange for Grant.

Washington is viewed by some league personnel as a favorite to trade for Grant. Grant grew up in the D.C. area and is familiar with Wes Unseld Jr. from their time together with the Denver Nuggets.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been mentioned in some circles speculatively, but they're not expected to pursue Grant.

Knicks Want To Acquire Jalen Brunson

Jan 16, 2022 9:42 AM

After completing a trade for Cam Reddish of the Atlanta Hawks, the New York Knicks are hoping for more. The next target on the Knicks list is Jalen Brunson of the Dallas Mavericks.

Brunson's father, Rick, was one of Leon Rose's first clients when he was starting out as a sports agent. Rose now runs the Knicks front office. In the past, New York has engaged Dallas on trade talks involving Brunson.

Brunson is eligible to sign a contract extension with the Mavs. Or Brunson could opt for unrestricted free agency, and a potentially bigger payday this summer.

New York has reportedly also had discussions about acquiring Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons and Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers.

Julius Randle Fined $25K For Profane Language

Knicks Have Not Called Sixers About Ben Simmons

Jan 8, 2022 8:41 AM

The New York Knicks have not called the Philadelphia 76ers to discuss a Ben Simmons trade. New York has held internal discussions about trading for Simmons but have yet to take things further.

The Knicks have remained patient in free agency and trades since Leon Rose took over the front office. They've avoided the high-priced, splashy additions that have turned out poorly for the franchise in the past.

New York is expected to active on the trade market, but any moves may be around the edges. The Knicks have all their own first round picks going forward, as well as extra picks from the Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks coming in future years.
