Durant Film To Shoot In Baton Rouge

Aug 28, 2011 10:26 PM

A new feature-length film that will include Kevin Durant will be filmed in Baton Rouge rather than Oklahoma City.

The entire project couldn't be shot in Oklahoma City because of a snag with state incentives for film production.

The NBA lockout paid a factor in Oklahoma City's inability to broker a deal with sponsors of the Thunder.

Kendrick Perkins has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Perkins is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 30.

Denise White, a spokeswoman for Perkins, says doctors instructed Perkins to stay in bed and drink fluids after he passed out while playing dominoes at Milwaukee Bucks guard Stephen Jackson's home last Thursday. He skipped the charity event Friday before attending an after party, but White says Perkins didn't have “one drop of alcohol.”

Reggie Jackson Claims Injury Was Reason Behind Shutting Down Workouts

Aug 1, 2011 10:12 AM

Reggie Jackson's decision to stop working out for teams was one of the more controversial elements of the 2011 NBA Draft.

Jackson shut down all private workouts and interviews shortly after his workout for Oklahoma City, who selected him with the 24th pick. Speculation was rampant that the Heat promised to pick him 31st.

“After a workout for Oklahoma City, I came back and played pickup at my school,” Jackson said. “My knee, normally I could feel it tweaking, but it always got better. But it got worse. I went to the doctor and found out I couldn't go for about a month. I was supposed to come back. I tried to and I just couldn't compete, so I had to shut it down. That's about it. I was supposed to have workouts for other teams, but I honestly couldn't go. And that was that.”

Jackson had tendinitis in his knee, something he says he played with since his sophomore season at Boston College. He just always played through the pain.

“It's college,” Jackson said. “You don't have many games. You need to win, win, win, so I was always out there trying to compete. But I would always feel it.”
