Thunder Intend To Keep Andre Roberson

Apr 26, 2017 7:56 PM

The Oklahoma City and Andre Roberson were unable to agree upon an extension before their deadline at the beginning of the season and he'll be a restricted free agent.

While Roberson is a liability on offense, he has developed into a very good defensive player. Oklahoma City has moved away from the league-wide trend of valuing shooting and instead want cutting and driving.

The Thunder intend to keep Roberson.

Russell Westbrook Hasn't Thought About Extension But 'Loves' Being With Thunder

Apr 26, 2017 2:45 PM

Russell Westbrook can sign a five-year extension this offseason with the Oklahoma City Thunder worth approximately $220 million.

“I haven’t thought about anything,” Westbrook said Wednesday. “Obviously, everybody knows that I like Oklahoma City and I love being here. I love everybody here. But I haven’t even thought about that.

“I’m worried about making sure my wife was all right, so everything else really doesn’t matter at this point.”

Westbrook talked positively about the future of the Thunder.

"There's a lot of room for us to grow. That's the upside of it all," said Westbrook. "I'm excited about it."

Thunder Complete 2nd Straight 'Season Of Discovery'

Apr 26, 2017 12:53 PM

Sam Presti repeatedly called 16-17 a "season of discovery" for the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Royce Young of ESPN.

The Thunder had to remake their roster following the departure of Kevin Durant. Presti had envisioned a starting five that featured Durant, Russell Westbrook and Al Horford with Victor Oladipo and Enes Kanter anchoring their bench when he began the 2016 offseason.

Presti used the same language to describe the 15-16 season.

"You have to remember that this team was 7-6 at one time, and the coaches and the players didn't deviate from that process of discovery, evolution and progress that we talked about, and I think they deserve a lot of credit for that," said Presti during his end of season press conference in 2016.

"And we got to the postseason and felt as if we could continue to play and win series, it gave this team more runway to improve and discover itself. And that's one of the things I think that is really important about the year is that I think it really was a season of discovery, of learning, of cohesion, and as a result of the length of time we were able to play, I thought it allowed us to find ourselves, find our voice as a team and continue to embrace kind of this identity of the Thunder, which is versatility, size, length, and a group of guys that at the end of the year were really playing for one another," said Presti after the loss to the Warriors.

While Westbrook is likely to win MVP, the Thunder were eliminated in five games in the first round of the playoffs.

Russell Westbrook: Don't Try To Split Us Up

Apr 23, 2017 8:50 PM

The Oklahoma City Thunder have struggled in their series against the Houston Rockets whenever Russell Westbrook has been off the floor.

The Thunder were outscored 13-4 in a stretch that lasted from late in the third quarter to early in the fourth in Game 4.

During a joint press conference, Steven Adams was asked about the issue but was interrupted by Westbrook.

"Hold on Steven," Westbrook said. "I don't want nobody to try and split us up. We're all one team. If I go to the bench and Steven's on the floor and I'm off the floor, we're in this together. Don't split us up. Don't try and split us up. Don't try to make us go against each other or make it Russell and the rest of the guys. Russell against Houston. I don't want to hear that. We're in this together. We play as a team. That's all that matters."

NBA Reviewing Incident Between Patrick Beverley, Son Of Thunder Minority Owner

Apr 22, 2017 3:52 PM

The NBA is reviewing an incident between Patrick Beverley and a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In the first half, Beverley got knocked down after attempting a layup and landed at a fan's feet, identified as Stuart Scaramucci, son of minority Thunder owner Jay Scaramucci. Beverley got up and immediately started to complain about Scaramucci.

Beverley pointed at Scaramucci as referee Scott Foster and several Rockets went to help him up. After the game, Beverley approached Scaramucci, who was sitting behind the basket, and they got into a heated discussion.

The Rockets requested the league look into the incident after Beverley informed them of it.

"The Rockets are taking care of the situation," Beverley said before Saturday's practice. "I'll talk after the investigation is done."
