Chris Paul Believes Players Need 'At Least' 3-4 Weeks To Prepare Before Resumption

Apr 22, 2020 11:03 PM

Chris Paul believes players will need "at least" three or four weeks to prepare to play games if they get the go-ahead to resume the season..

"I'm just letting you know -- and I don't think the league would do it anyway -- but if they were like, 'Hey, you got two weeks, and then we're going,' that's not going to happen," Paul, who is serving his seventh year as National Basketball Players Association president, said during a conference call. "That's not going to happen. Whatever the amount of time is, just know that players will have the input, the say-so, because we're the ones playing. That comes first. We don't ever want to put guys in a situation where their injury risk is higher than ever before."

Paul was careful not to discuss hypothetical situations at length.

"We just want to play," Paul said. "We're trying to figure out what that looks like. Right now, I'm just focused on playing, playing in some form or fashion.

"This is a situation where no one knows. The virus is actually in complete control. I seriously tried to answer things the best I could, but there are things where it's not like I've got the answers and I'm just not telling you."

Andre Roberson Says He's Past Rehab Stage, 'Almost' Ready To Return To Court

Apr 19, 2020 2:27 PM

Andre Roberson said he's close to returning to the court for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Roberson tore his patellar tendon on January 27th, 2018 against the Pistons.

Roberson was initially expected to return within a year, though he experienced setbacks in rehab.

“I’m kinda past the rehab stage. I’m almost to the point where — I should be playing, honestly. But I’m still taking it a day at a time until I get back into our medical staff’s hands and get reevaluated. Just staying patient through it all and knowing that the light is right there at the end of the tunnel…It’s definitely been a long journey and it’s coming to an end," said Roberson on the Catching Up With the Family podcast.

Roberson will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.
