The Orlando Magic have hired Steve Clifford as head coach.

Clifford was fired by the Charlotte Hornets this offseason.

Clifford previously worked for the Magic as an assistant coach under Stan Van Gundy.

The Magic have been without a head coach since April 12 when they fired Frank Vogel following a 25-57 record.

Clifford will become Orlando's fifth head coach since 2012. 

The Orlando Magic have reached out to express interest in Tom Izzo.

Izzo has been a candidate for head coaching jobs in the past but has elected to remain with Michigan State.

The Magic are also considering Steve Clifford and Kelvin Sampson.

The Magic have been secretive during their coaching search with Kelvin Sampson being the only other known candidate.

Kelvin Sampson has emerged as the primary target in the head coaching search of the Orlando Magic.

Sampson worked previously with Jeff Weltman and John Hammond with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Sampson is currently head coach at the University of Houston.

Sampson worked in the NBA previously as an assistant coach for the Bucks and Rockets.

Orlando had kept their search fairly private to this point.

The Phoenix Suns have won the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery while the Sacramento Kings moved up to No. 2 and the Atlanta Hawks will select at No. 3.

Jame Borrego is finalizing a deal with the Charlotte Hornets to become their next head coach.

Borrego was an assistant coach for the Spurs from 2003 until 2010 and again from 2015 until now. Borrego was briefly interim head coach of the Magic when he replaced Jacques Vaughn. 

Borrego has also served as an assistant coach for New Orleans under Monty Williams.

The Hornets parted ways with Steve Clifford this offseason under new general manager Mitch Kupchak.

The Memphis Grizzlies are finalizing deal to hire Chad Forcier as their lead assistant coach on the staff of J.B. Bickerstaff.

Forcier was most recently an assistant coach with the Orlando Magic.

Forcier has also previously worked with the Pistons, Pacers and Spurs.

Ime Udoka will interview this week for the Orlando Magic head coaching vacancy.

Udoka also interviewed this offseason with the Charlotte Hornets.

Udoka has been an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs since 2012.
