Iguodala Latest To Speak On Boston's On-Court Actions

Dec 26, 2008 8:13 AM

76ers' forward Andre Iguodala is the latest to speak out on the "trash-talking" of the Celtics.

"It takes away from how good of a team they are. It takes away from their respect factor. Teams won't respect them as much," Iguodala said of Boston's on-court actions.

As confident as the Celtics are on the court, Iguodala doesn't believe that they have the same intimidation tactics of the Pistons.

"I think they're a good team, but they don't have the intimidation factor of those Detroit teams," he said.

Dalembert Wants To Play When It Matters

Dec 22, 2008 9:40 AM

76ers center Samuel Dalembert wants to be on the floor for the team when the game is hanging in the balance.

Many times he has started for Philadelphia but sat on the bench while rookie Marreese Speights or veteran Theo Ratliff plays when it matters.

"I feel the same. I feel [the same as] yesterday. I feel the same as the day before. Like every game. There is no problem with me. I never complain," Dalembert said. "I'm ready to play whenever they call me. My main goal is to win.

"We've seen it. I've proven it several times. You need to be on the floor to rebound. Look around the league: There is no big man capable of producing high numbers if he's not on the floor [consistently]."

Interim coach Tony DiLeo won't take Dalembert out of the starting lineup but isn't sure if he'll be playing late in the fourth quarter.

"I will give it to Tony every night," Dalembert said. "I will give my best as long as I am on the floor . . . It's kind of difficult when some games you don't know [how much you're going to play]. I can't make [happen] what I did today in 10 minutes. I wish I could. I'm tired of hearing this is what they want from me. I want to produce. I know how good I am, what I can do."

Brand Will Still Be 'The Man' Upon Return

Dec 21, 2008 5:10 PM

The Sixers aren't changing their gameplan and insist that Elton Brand will still be "the man" when he returns from his recent shoulder injury.

Philadelphia signed Brand to a five-year, $82 million contract this offseason, and even if the team plays well in his absence, they'll still focus on him when he returns in late January.

76ers Won't Try To Replace Brand

Dec 19, 2008 4:19 PM

The 76ers aren't expected to try to fill the void left behind by Elton Brand in their lineup while he recovers from a shoulder injury.

"I don't see any immediate need roster-wise to go out and get someone," GM Ed Stefanski said. "I don't see anyone out there that makes a lot of sense."

Brand Dislocates Shoulder

Dec 17, 2008 10:01 PM

The Sixers' power forward Elton Brand dislocated his right shoulder in the third quarter of the team's home game against the Bucks Wednesday night.  The severity of the injury is unclear.

Brand was a major free-agent acquisition for the Sixers this past off-season, signing a five-year, $80 million contract on July 9.

The Sixers have been off to a disappointing start and terminated head coach Mo Cheeks this past weekend.

Cheeks Takes Blame For 76ers' Start

Dec 16, 2008 1:58 PM

Fired head coach Maurice Cheeks took the blame on Tuesday for the 76ers' slow start.

Three days after he was fired by the team, Cheeks addressed reporters in an effort to thank fans and take accountability for the poor start.

"In my case, it was the coach," he said of the reason why the 76ers played poorly.

"Things don't always work out the way you expect them to," Cheeks added. "I take solace in the fact I did the best I could."

Nuggets Like Williams, Dalembert, And Cook?

Dec 15, 2008 4:43 PM

The Nuggets are looking to add depth in the frontcourt and reportedly are interested in New Jersey's Sean Williams, Philadelphia's Samuel Dalembert, and Orlando's Brian Cook.

Williams recently told the Newark Star-Ledger he won't complain but knows his time with the Nets may be short.

Dalembert didn't see too much time under coach Maurice Cheeks but could get more time under interim coach Tony DiLeo.

Cook isn't too happy with his role with the Magic but is a tad undersized at 6'8".

Brand: I Didn't Think Mo Would Get Fired This Fast

Dec 14, 2008 5:14 PM

The hasty firing of head coach Maurice Cheeks appeared to shock some of the 76ers' players.

"They want to win and win now," forward Elton Brand said.

Cheeks became the fifth NBA team to be fired this season when GM Ed Stefanski relieved him of his duties on Saturday morning.

"I knew something would happen because of the high expectations, but I didn't think it would happen that fast," Brand added.
