Rockets Offered J.J. Redick More Money Than 76ers

Jul 21, 2017 12:49 PM

Before the start of free agency, J.J. Redick was recruited by Chris Paul to join him with the Houston Rockets.

“Five days before free agency, I didn’t think Houston was even a possibility,” Redick said on his new podcast on Uninterrupted. “Then, the night before free agency started, I’m getting a call from CP [Chris Paul] telling me how much I need to go there.”

Redick claims the Rockets offered him more money in total than the one-year, $23 million deal he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.

“Houston offered me more total money than Philly,” he said. “I knew in Houston I was going to come off the bench. Me and Eric Gordon do a lot of the same things. We were going to play some minutes together. He would get to finish some games; maybe I would get to. But it wasn’t necessarily going to be what I wanted in this point in my career for the court part of it. Now certainly, it was a contender and all that stuff, so that’s probably the main reason I wanted to do it.”

Ben Simmons Envisions Himself As 'Starting Point Guard'

Jul 10, 2017 1:55 PM

Ben Simmons has heard people question whether the Philadelphia 76ers are making the correct decision to have him play point guard.

“Everybody is a coach,” Simmons said late Sunday at the NBA Summer League. “Everybody is a GM.”

Simmons is clear on how he envisions himself on the floor.

“For me, I think you can move me anywhere,” Simmons said. “But I’m a starting point guard.”

The Sixers believe Markelle Fultz, a solid shooter and another point guard, is the perfect backcourt complement to Simmons.

“I have no problem sharing the ball,” Simmons said. “He doesn’t, either. Watching him play, he can share the ball.”

Markelle Fultz Out For Summer League With High Ankle Sprain

Jul 9, 2017 3:35 PM

Markelle Fultz suffered a high ankle sprain in Saturday's Summer League game.

Fultz was helped off the court after rolling his left ankle.

"We will treat him accordingly and be as cautious as we can, making sure he is healthy," 76ers summer league coach Lloyd Pierce said. "We will know [more] once we get some treatment on him. I haven't heard anything [more]."

Fultz was attempting to block a drive in the third quarter when he jumped and landed on the heel of Jabari Brown.

Joel Embiid missed the first two seasons of his career while Ben Simmons missed his first season though he's expected to return for 17-18.

"I'm a little bit punch-drunk with the injuries that we've had with our first players selected over the years,'' said Brett Brown.

Fultz will miss the remainder of Summer League.
