Suns Start Warrick Over Turkoglu

Nov 29, 2010 7:24 AM

Suns coach Alvin Gentry moved Hakim Warrick into the starting lineup on Sunday night and brought Hedo Turkoglu off the bench.

Warrick has fit better with Phoenix's first-team and Turkoglu has struggled as of late.

"It's nothing against Hedo," Gentry said. "His attitude is tremendous. He's down because he feels like he's not doing enough to help. I just have to put him in a position so that he can feel like he's helping our team. That might be some as a three (small forward) and more as a ball-handler."

Gentry said he will "stick with it enough to see if it's going to work."

Phoenix lost to Denver 138-133 on Sunday night.

Warrick had eight points and nine rebounds in 27 minutes of action, while Turkoglu tallied 13 points and four assists on 6-for-13 shooting in the same amount of time.

Nash Remains Sidelined With Injury

Nov 20, 2010 5:45 PM

Suns point guard Steve Nash remains sidelined with a groin injury.

Phoenix coach Alvin Gentry said that Nash will probably miss the team's next two games -- against Charlotte on Saturday and Houston on Monday.

"I don't think I'm going to play him this whole trip," Gentry said. "It's not quite right and until we get back and we can get an adjustment and stuff, I don't feel like it's worth the risk."

Suns forward Grant Hill says he's "not even close" to retirement.

Hill, 38, is just now reaping the benefits of seasons lost to injury during his younger days. He's currently the NBA's third-oldest player.

"The way I feel now, I want to go another couple of seasons," he told FanHouse. "I'd like to be playing when I'm 40."

Richardson Hopes For Extension From Suns

Nov 19, 2010 8:44 AM

Jason Richardson wants a contract extension from the Suns.

Richardson is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

"I'd love to get something done (with my contract), get it out of the way, so I don't have to do that this summer. That's my hope," Richardson told FanHouse Thursday night.

"But nothing serious is being talked about at this point. A contract year can be a distraction, so I'd rather avoid that and just get something done."

Richardson is in the final year of a contract paying him $14 million this season.

Suns Will Be Cautious With Nash

Nov 19, 2010 8:31 AM

The Suns will be cautious with the health of point guard Steve Nash, who missed Thursday's game against the Magic with a groin injury.

"I'm just being precautious and making sure I'm not exacerbating the situation," Nash said.

Nash played through the injury on Wednesday against the Heat even though it hurts for him just to put on his pants. He had not missed a game since Feb. 23, 2010.

"It just doesn't make any sense if you look long-term," coach Alvin Gentry said. "If it was left up to him, he would still go out and play because that's who he is. He probably shouldn't have played (Wednesday night in Miami) but that's who he is."

Nov 16, 2010 7:49 AM

With Robin Lopez expected to miss several weeks with a left knee sprain, the Suns are likely to sign center Earl Barron.

Barron could join the team for Wednesday's game at Miami, pending that he passes a physical. He'll sign a non-guaranteed contract.

Suns president Lon Babby said Lopez's knee damage was "a little bit more serious than we first thought it would be."

Knicks 'Will Make An Inquiry' About Nash

Nov 14, 2010 6:01 PM

The Knicks are going to check into the availability of Suns point guard Steve Nash even though trade rumors involving the two-time MVP are believed to be speculation.

The Knicks "will make an inquiry," a team source told The New York Daily News.

Phoenix is 4-4 and if they were to trade Nash it probably won't be until around the trade deadline or if they fall out of the playoff picture early.
