Harden Open To Signing With Suns

Jul 27, 2012 8:02 PM

James Harden will consider signing with the Suns if his contract expires after next season.

"Yeah," he said. "Of course. I love it there. My mom lives there still. So that's definitely my second home as far as my comfort level and going to school there. But obviously, I'm with the Thunder right now and what we have is special."

Oklahoma City will be able to match any offer Harden receives.

"That's out of my hands," Harden said. "That's not my decision. That's the front office. I'll let them decide that."

Robin Lopez To Hornets Three-Way Trade Official

Jul 27, 2012 1:06 PM

The Hornets have acquired Robin Lopez, Hakim Warrick, and cash considerations from the Suns in exchange for Jerome Dyson, Brad Miller and two 2nd round picks (Brooklyn’s 2013 second round selection and Minnesota’s 2016 second round draft choice) as part of a three-team trade along with the Timberwolves.

Phoenix receives Brad Miller and Jerome Dyson from the Hornets, as well as Wesley Johnson and a 1st round pick from Minnesota.

Minnesota receives Brooklyn’s 2013 2nd round pick and their own 2016 2nd round pick from New Orleans.

“We are very excited about this trade that brings us two quality people and basketball players to help strengthen our foundation as a team,” Hornets General Manager Dell Demps said. “This move gives us a true center in Robin Lopez who brings youth and is a tough, inside rebounder. In Hakim, we get an experienced, versatile forward who will bring a veteran presence to our team.”

Robin Lopez Three-Way Deal Hits Bump, Still Likely To Go Through

Jul 26, 2012 12:45 AM

While Robin Lopez is likely to be eventually moved to the Hornets in a sign-and-trade, a proposed three-way deal had hit a few bumps as of Wednesday evening.

Phoenix, New Orleans and Minnesota have agreed to the framework of a three-way deal that would send Lopez and Hakim Warrick from the Suns to the Hornets and Wesley Johnson, a first-round pick and Brad Miller's contract to the Suns.

The Suns would waive Miller, who has a buyout of about $800,000 and announced he would retire after last season.

Phoenix would get the first-round pick that Memphis owes Minnesota via Houston.

Lopez and the Hornets have already agreed upon a three-year, $15.3 million contract.

P.J. Tucker, Suns Agree To Two-Year Deal

Jul 24, 2012 10:54 AM

The Suns will sign P.J. Tucker to a two-year contract with partial guarantees on the first year.

Tucker will accept less than half of the salary he would have made overseas to join the Suns.

"It's been a long, grueling journey, but it's fulfilling," Tucker, 27, said of his return to the NBA. "I was so resentful in Toronto because I wasn't playing much. I was throwing fits. I was so young-minded. I didn't get the big picture or that it's a business.

“You have to understand your role on a team. You see kids come after you and do the same thing. So many never play and say they got screwed by the GM or coach. When you can be real with yourself and understand why, that's really when it comes to life."

Gentry Views Beasley As Offensive Orchestrator

Jul 20, 2012 11:18 PM

Alvin Gentry believes Michael Beasley can orchestrate the Suns’ offense.

"I think he can be a go-to facilitator," Gentry said. "We need that guy you can throw the ball to -- not necessarily to score the points but to create situations that lead to points.

"We'll have him handle the ball some in screen-roll situations. We're excited about some of the versatility he brings our team."

Beasley, 23, addressed his troubled past, including his history with controlled substances.

"Everybody has a lot of ups and downs," he said. "I've had a lot of downs. Sometimes to keep from crying, you have to laugh.

"I realize 10 minutes of feeling good is not worth putting my life, my career, my legacy in jeopardy.”
