Chris Paul and Joel Embiid have been named the NBA's Players of the Week for Week 15 (Jan. 24-30).

Paul averaged 22.3 points, 12.8 assists and 7.5 rebounds as the Phoenix Suns went 4-0.

Embiid averaged 34.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists as the Philadelphia 76ers went 3-0.

Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams and his staff will coach Team LeBron in the 2022 NBA All-Star Game.

Phoenix (40-9, .816) defeated the San Antonio Spurs 115-110 tonight to clinch the best record in the Western Conference through games played on Sunday, Feb. 6.  As a result, Williams has earned a spot as a head coach in the NBA All-Star Game for the first time.  He will be the Suns’ first NBA All-Star Game head coach since Mike D’Antoni in the 2006-07 season.   

Under Williams, the Suns have the best record in the NBA this season and are off to their best start in franchise history through the first 49 games of a season.  Phoenix won a franchise-record 18 consecutive games from Oct. 30 – Dec. 2 and has a current 10-game winning streak.  Williams was named the NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month for games played in October/November.

Williams is in his third season as Phoenix’s head coach.  

The Phoenix Suns have signed James Jones to a multiyear contract extension.

Jones joined the Suns as the vice president of basketball operations in 2017 before being named interim general manager and eventually the permanent general manager in 2019.

The Phoenix Suns backcourt depth took a hit when Cameron Payne was injured against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. Payne has been diagnosed with a sprained right wrist and will miss at least two weeks.

This season, Payne has averaged 10.5 points and 3.6 assists in 20.4 minutes per game off the Suns bench. Payne was re-signed to a three-year, $19 million contract to back up Chris Paul for the defending Western Conference champions.

Elfrid Payton will likely see his minutes boosted while Payne is out. Payton has played a limited role this season as Phoenix's third point guard behind Paul and Payne.

Darius Garland and Devin Booker have been named the NBA's Players of the Week for Week 13.

Garland averaged 20.5 points, 12.8 assists and 6.0 rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers went 4-9.

Booker averaged 27.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists as the Phoenix Suns went 3-0.

The Phoenix Suns plan to sign wing Paris Bass to a second 10-Day contract via the hardship exception. Phoenix is still down several players due to injuries and the health and safety protocols.

Bass appeared in two games on his first deal with the Suns. He averaged three points and two rebounds in limited playing time.

The Phoenix Suns waived Chandler Hutchison from his Two-Way contract. The forward played just 22 minutes over six games for Phoenix this season.

Hutchison was a first-round draft pick by the Chicago Bulls at the 2018 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Washington Wizards at the 2021 trade deadline. Hutchison was then dealt to the San Antonio Spurs this past offseason. After the Spurs waived him, Hutchison joined the Suns on a Two-Way deal.

Phoenix is expected to explore ways to keep players they have signed to recent 10-day hardship deals. In addition, the Suns are expected to consider keeping veterans Bismack Biyombo or Justin Jackson on a standard contract.

The Phoenix Suns have signed Justin Jackson to a 10-day contract.

Jackson was previously on a hardship deal with the Boston Celtics.

The Phoenix Suns are planning to sign veteran center Bismack Biyombo to a 10-Day hardship contract. Phoenix is currently without both Deandre Ayton and JaVale McGee due to the health and safety protocols.

The absence of both Ayton and McGee leaves Phoenix with Jalen Smith as the only true big on their roster. On Friday afternoon, Phoenix patched together small lineups in a blowout loss at the Boston Celtics.

Biyombo has yet to play this season. He spent the 2020-21 campaign with the Charlotte Hornets. Last season, Biyombo played in 66 games (36 starts) and averaged 5.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.
