2013 NBA All-Star Reserves Announced

The NBA has announced the reserves for the 2013 All-Star Game in Houston.

Eastern Conference Reserves

Jrue Holiday 
Tyson Chandler 
Chris Bosh

Kyrie Irving 

Fifteen teams have at least one All-Star (Knicks, Heat, Celtics, Bulls, Pacers, 76ers, Blazers, Spurs, Rockets, Warriors and Grizzlies), while 15 teams do not have a representative (Hawks, Nets, Bobcats, Mavericks, Nuggets, Pistons, Bucks, Wolves, Hornets, Magic, Suns, Kings, Raptors, Jazz and Wizards).

The 76ers and Cavaliers each sent a Coaches Vote All-Star despite a losing record, while the Lakers and Celtics have two starters despite a sub-.500 record.

The Nets, Hawks, Bucks, Nuggets and Jazz all have a record over .500 and no All-Stars. 

The All-Star starters are LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Garnett, Dwyane Wade, Rajon Rondo, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.

Hickson's Agent Receiving Trade Inquiries

J.J. Hickson's agent has received inquiring phone calls from teams interested in making a trade for him with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to sources.

Those teams have yet to reach out to Blazers general manager Neil Olshey.

Hickson is a Bird Rights player on a one-year, $4 million deal and he has the power to veto any trade that is proposed. If he approves a deal, he will lose his Bird Rights. 

Hickson is averaging 12.2 points and a career-high 11.0 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game.

Blazers Seeking Naming Rights Sponsor For Arena

The Portland Trail Blazers have decided to work with Premier Partnerships to target potential companies interested in purchasing naming rights for the Rose Garden.

Premier has worked on naming rights for O.co Coliseum and Viejas Arena amonst others.

The Knicks, Pistons, Hornets and Blazers are the NBA's only teams without a formal sponsorship of their arena.

Nets, Bulls Have NBA's Largest Increase/Decrease In Secondary Ticket Prices From Last Season

With nearly half of the 12-13 NBA season, analysts have a fairly clear idea of which teams are playoff contenders and which are firmly in the lottery.

The change in popularity of teams based on ticket prices on the secondary market based on data from VividSeats.com is also revealing.

The Brooklyn Nets have the largest increase in price from last season, with a 105 percent jump from their final season in New Jersey.

The Chicago Bulls have the NBA's largest decrease at 27 percent, undoubtedly related to the injury to Derrick Rose.

Despite the departure of Dwight Howard, the Orlando Magic have only had a decrease of four percent. Also noteworthy is that the Houston Rockets have a four percent decrease even though the team seemingly improved their markability with the acquisitions of James Harden and Jeremy Lin.

Oden Hopes To Return To NBA This Season

Greg Oden is currently taking classes and playing himself into shape on the campus of Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.

Oden is hoping to pick up with an NBA team before the end of the current regular season, according to former Buckeyes' teammate Mike Conley.

Oden intends to try again in the offseason as well if he isn't ready in the spring.

Blazers Assign Barton, Smith To Idaho

The Portland Trail Blazers have assigned guards Will Barton and Nolan Smith to the Idaho Stampede, Portland’s NBA Development League affiliate.  

Barton has appeared in 28 games for the Blazers this season, averaging 2.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 10.1 minutes.  Previously assigned to Idaho for two games in December, Barton returns to the Stampede with NBA D-League averages of 19.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 42.0 minutes.   

Smith has played in 18 games for Portland this season, averaging 2.5 points, 1.2 assists and 8.2 minutes.  A second-year player, Smith owns NBA career averages of 3.4 points, 1.3 assists and 11.1 minutes in 62 career games for the Trail Blazers.

Lillard, Beal Named Rookies Of The Month For December

The Washington Wizards’ Bradley Beal and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard have been named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month.

Beal lead all Eastern Conference rookies in scoring (13.4 ppg) and total assists with (41) in December. He had six games with 15-plus points during the month and made a career-high eight field goals in a 100-95 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 18.

Lillard led all rookies in scoring (18.4 ppg), assists (6.3 apg) and is tied for third among NBA point guards with 16 games of 20-plus points. On Dec. 13 against the San Antonio Spurs he became one of just 12 NBA players to record at least 29 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a game this season.
