Nov 26, 2013 6:29 PM

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings have exchanged Derrick Williams for Luc Mbah a Moute.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports first reported the deal on Monday.

Williams was the second overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft behind Kyrie Irving.

"We see this as an opportunity for (Williams) to have a fresh start," said Pete D'Alessandro to Sam Amick of USA Today.

Flip Saunders and Rick Adelman concluded that Williams was unable to play small forward in their system.

Jimmer Fredette Receiving Increased Opportunity In Kings' Rotation

Nov 22, 2013 12:05 AM

Jimmer Fredette has received increased minutes in the Sacramento Kings' past two games, and the guard believes he will now get a legitimate opportunity to prove that he belongs in an NBA rotation.

“It seems like that,” Fredette said. “I played in two games, and we won both of them, and it was great to be a part of that. Hopefully they will, and I think they really will. They’re trying to find a chemistry on this team and help us get wins. It’s up to them, but I think they’re true to that.”

The Kings appear to be playing Fredette due to their need for outside shooting -- not to showcase him as a potential trade candidate.

“I feel like I’m ready and I’ll keep getting better,” Fredette said.

McCallum will be reunited with former Kings training camp players Brandon Heath, DeQuan Jones and Trent Lockett.

Kings Eager To Make Trade

Nov 20, 2013 1:13 PM

The Sacramento Kings have a "very high" level of interest in quickly making a trade, according to a source. It is believed that some conversations have advanced beyond the preliminary stage.

The Kings have a 3-7 record and have several veterans that could be attractive to playoff contenders.

John Salmons, Marcus Thornton and Patrick Patterson have all lost their starting jobs.

The Kings are looking for young players or draft picks to build around DeMarcus Cousins, Ben McLemore and their own pick.

Jimmer Fredette is also widely known as an available player via trade.

Greivis Vasquez Acknowledges He Needs To Be More Productive

Nov 8, 2013 1:21 PM

Greivis Vasquez has gotten off to an inconsistent start to the season with the Sacramento Kings, and the point guard knows the team needs more out of him.

"I need to produce more. I need to be who I am, but it takes a little bit of time," Vasquez said. "It's not going to be overnight. I believe in myself; I believe in what I can do. The only game that we won I think is because I had a solid game and I was able to close the game out with Isaiah (Thomas).

"It's a long season, and I don't really want to panic. I just want to be healthy, and I want to help the team win."

Vasquez has 19 points on 5-of-17 shooting in the past three games, along with 11 assists, as the Kings take a three-game losing streak into Friday's contest in Portland. Vasquez has established himself as a leader on the Kings.

"He's a guy that is a leader, he's vocal, he's positive, he's passionate, and obviously he's a willing playmaker," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "Some guys in this league that play the point guard spot pass as a last resort. They are reluctant passers, whereas Greivis is a guy who probably gets more satisfaction from making a play for his teammates than he does from scoring himself."

Kings Pleased With Work Ethic, Progress Of McLemore

Nov 5, 2013 11:44 AM

The Sacramento Kings have been encouraged by the progress of Ben McLemore.

McLemore most recently had 19 points against the Warriors.

McLemore is earning a reputation as a hard worker and a committed defensive player.

"He's done everything we've asked," Mike Malone said. "And what I told him after practice was I love his work ethic and the work habits that he has. I said, 'I hope they never change because if you continue to work this hard and do all the right things, your future is very, very bright.' "

The Kings aren't sure which position McLemore is best suited to play.

"The bottom line is, whether he starts or comes off the bench right now, Ben is a big part of our future," Malone said. "And I have to continue to show confidence in him and give him an opportunity whether it's at (shooting guard) or (small forward), and he's deserving of that opportunity."
