Kings Expect Suspension For DeMarcus Cousins

Dec 29, 2015 11:59 AM

The Sacramento Kings expect DeMarcus Cousins to be suspended by the NBA following his ejection during the third quarter of Monday's game at the Golden State Warriors

After sitting out most of the first half with foul trouble, Cousins was upset after getting called for his fifth foul in the third quarter. Monty McCutchen then called Cousins for a technical, setting him off on a tirade that led to another technical called by Mitchell Ervin and an ejection.

Cousins had to be restrained by teammates before being escorted off the court.

Vlade Divac said he spoke with Cousins after the game.

"He said he understands what he did, but he didn't do anything wrong in my opinion," Divac said,

Rajon Rondo 'Gravitates' Toward DeMarcus Cousins

Dec 27, 2015 12:27 AM

Rajon Rondo is the first player who can relate to the pressure and perceptions DeMarcus Cousins deals with.

Both Rondo and Cousins have been called angry and mercurial.

“He’s a misunderstood kid,” Rondo said. “I think that’s why I gravitate toward him so much. I love what he’s doing.”

Cousins' locker is next to Rondo's.

“I think DeMarcus wants to be a winner, he wants to be on a winning team, he wants to play playoff basketball, and I think his anger and frustration is he doesn’t want to remember the past,” said George Karl. “He wants to forget the past and move into a better future. Any player that’s been on a winning team can tell stories and give situations to a younger player that’s trying to learn, trying to grow.”

Rondo is on a one-year deal and Cousins hopes the Kings re-sign him.

“This dude makes my job so much easier on a nightly basis,” Cousins said. “Throughout my career, this probably is the most easy baskets I’ve ever got. He just makes my job so much easier.”

George Karl: I've Got A Crazy Team, And I'm Kind Of Crazy

Dec 16, 2015 1:42 PM

The manager of DeMarcus Cousins, Andrew Rogers, was ejected from Tuesday's game after making contact with Jason Terry.

Rogers knocked Terry’s hand away after Terry made contact with him while running past the basket, following a Ben McLemore dunk.

Cousins ran to that end of the court when he saw what was happening, and security was ready to defuse the situation.

“My biggest thing is, I didn’t want the situation to escalate too far,” Cousins said.

“I’ve got a crazy team, and I’m kind of crazy,” George Karl said.

“There’s some type of saying,” said Cousins. “A team usually matches the coach.”

At 10-15, the Kings are only a game out of the eighth spot in the Western Conference, even amid all the drama.

“When you’ve been in a drought for so long of not making the playoffs, we’re looking at that (standings) board every day,” Darren Collison said. “... We want to make the playoffs. That’s the whole goal this year, nothing else.”

Drake was again sitting courtside with Vivek Ranadive.

Rajon Rondo Issues Statement Of Apology

Dec 15, 2015 6:51 PM

Rajon Rondo released a statement about his derogatory remarks towards referee Bill Kennedy.

Kennedy came out as gay several days after Rondo made several anti-gay remarks to him during a recent game.

“Yesterday, I said that my words toward Bill Kennedy were unacceptable and did not reflect my feelings toward the LGBT community," said Rondo in a statement. "Some have interpreted my comments as a non-apology. I want to be clear, from the bottom of my heart that I am truly sorry for what I said to Bill. There is no place on or off the court for language that disrespects anyone's sexual orientation. That is not who I am or what I believe and I will strive every day to be a better person.”

Rajon Rondo Dunks For First Time During 15-16 Season (Vine)

Dec 11, 2015 12:03 PM

Rajon Rondo had his first dunk of the season, a baseline drive in the halfcourt on Carmelo Anthony.

"I've been lifting," he said. "I've been working on my body a lot. I'm not old. I just don't dunk. I'm only 6 feet."

"It surprised me," George Karl said. "There's no question that was a golden moment for him. That was kind of an announcement that he's healthy and back."

Rondo has still been working his way back from an ACL tear.

Rondo, Cousins Pulled George Karl In For 'Powerful' Two-Hour Meeting

Dec 1, 2015 6:40 PM

George Karl was summoned by DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo last week for a meeting.

This was supposed to be a 15-minute discussion but instead became a positive two-hour meeting.

“It was a powerful meeting for all three of us,” Rondo told Yahoo Sports.

Rondo and Cousins were also able to get some lingering frustrations off their chest, and Karl offered back his thoughts.

“We asked him to just sit with us so we can pick his brain and share our thoughts,” Rondo told Yahoo Sports. “What I love about [Karl] is he’s very open. George is not a dictator. ‘What can we do positively? What can we do to improve?’

“If you can come into a meeting with no egos and everyone was humble, it just works out for the better.”

Rondo and Cousins told Karl they thought his film sessions would be better with more constructive criticism and teaching.

Rondo and Cousins said they also told Karl not to hesitate to use them as examples in film sessions.

“I told him to start with me. Whatever I can do to help the team,” Rondo told Yahoo Sports. “If you have to bully me or call me out, I can accept that. I’m a 10-year vet. I learned from [former Boston Celtics coach] Doc [Rivers] and the past guys that it has to start with the vets who have the most leeway on the team or the most responsibility.

“[Cousins and I] are both trying to change the culture, change the organization.”
